It is sad that anything will get twisted like Rhule talking to the Colts. Good Lord. Coach Rhule might bolt at the first decent opportunity if we begin to turn the corner this year just to get away from the madness. Then again, there are people in the world like Tommy Tuberville and Todd Graham who could simply bolt at any moment.
"There were a number of us just crying out to God." - Baylor Regent Dennis Wiles

During the meeting, one of the regents started crying and pounding on the table, saying "Not my Baylor," and "Why do we have to listen to any more of this?"

So why not just come out and tell the Baylor Nation what he told this young man. Instead his silence left people to assume the worse and it also allowed sports stations across Texas to ridicule both Baylor and Rhule for talking to another team. Baylor needs to develop a much better sense of how to communicate with the media.

I have come to terms that Baylor will always suck with dealing with the media. Our BOR is the biggest reason for this... bunch of pansies

The recruiting class is 95% put to bed. Why talk about the call unless it leaks. It leaked. This third party stuff is the best way to handle it.

If this board is any representative sample, then the "fans" that want Rhule gone are the ones the most upset over this. Rhule explains it to the players. Rhoades explains it to the boosters. The rest of you can figure it out.

I'm damned glad we have a coach that other schools and pro programs respect and covet. We ought to be proud that Coach Rhule demands such respect for his character and coaching ability that the Indianapolis Colts would call on him just to discuss the matter.

I wonder how many of those who are raising hell about the whole matter of LOYALTY voted for Donald Trump, the king of extra-marital flings, adulterous affairs and marital disloyalty!

Coach Rhule stayed put. I'm happy with that.

Rhule has shown his true self now. A real door to door salesman. If a player is presumed to have NFL talent it doesn't matter if Dave Roberts is the head coach. Evaluators will still come examine the players talents regardless of how they feel about the head coach. What Rhule did was to get himself in front of a NFL decision maker within the interview circle. You don't turn those opportunities down if your ultimate goal is to be an NFL Head Coach. Being able to sit face to face in one of those interviews is a huge step. There's only 32 positions. His interviewing had nothing to do with whether the Colts would or would not consider a player from Baylor in the future. Total BS!!!

I figured it out alright. They think I'm not important just like the BoR.

So, goodbye BBF and goodbye season tickets I've had every year since graduation. Hello stubhub and lots of saved money.

Besides, apparently we're reseating in 2019 anyway. "Thanks for your support, now give us even more money or you can't even renew your seats!" Screw those guys. I hope they end up in a homeless shelter.

Now that you mention it, the loudest Rhule detractors on the Football board are the loudest Trump supporters on R&P board.

The ones who want Rhule out are idiots. Most of'em are dead and dying Aggies. Screw'em!

Pretty sad when our athletic department leaves its detailed communications to an 18 year old kid who isn't even an enrolled student yet. He did a good job explaining, but sheesh, we are still highly dysfunctional. That kind of explanation should've come from an SID.

I don't want Rhule to leave either. He needs at least three year to prove his system, then things should be rolling.

Problem is he appears to have higher aspirations. May not get more than three years from him.

Only old coaches who have been passed over by the pros for years are the ones who no longer have higher aspirations like a job with an organization as legendary as the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts. Aspirations for the top rung of the ladder is a healthy thing for a young person. It makes them work harder, longer and smarter wherever they are; that is what we ought to want & expect from our young coach and his reasonably young staff. Maybe, given a little faith by the Baylor fans, he and his staff can develop Baylor into a permanent destination job in Power 5 or Power 6, 7 or 8 college football. What we need to worry about is developing a competent or better than competent Board of Regents and a more intelligent and thoughtful fan base!

What Baylor fans don't need to do is pay much attention to Mac Engel (Ft. Worth) or Berry Tramel (Oklahoma)when it comes to things Baylor. Both of them detest Baylor and only hope and pray that Baylor is no longer in the B12 sooner than later.

I dont know much about the football/college/NFL business.... but i agree with some others here: this smells like total BS. Loyalty=no interview. Period. Then you dont have to deal with the drama of people thinking youre disloyal. As one great coach (but not a great disciplinarian) once said, "Perception is reality."

We've been very spoiled by having coaches that have decided they want to stay here as long as we'll have them. Maybe Briles to Texas would have changed that, but we need to realize that we have been the exception to the rule. Pretty much every football program outside of Bama has the opportunity of a coach leaving on their own before the fans expect it.

In theory, Baylor should be a stepping stone. But we haven't been. If Rhule turns this ship around, he may head to the NFL. I'm not happy with this particular situation, but I'm surprised it hasn't happened more often.

Lets get this straight. Your nose is so far up Rhule's back side that he could be tanking games on purpose, be placing calls to every team on the planet to try to get another opportunity to screw up and you would find an excuse for it. You and your Baylor Company Lackeys are so far in on this hire that he can do nothing wrong.. absolutely nothing except maybe say something positive about Art Briles. That would be the only thing to turn you.

He needs to be gone because only a horrible coach would lose to Liberty and UTSA and Duke with 74 3*/4* players on the roster. His looking for another job is just one more straw on the camels back, not the reason he should be gone, just one more reason.

I am willing to change my mind if he can recruit his way out of this hole. But he will never get the recruits to beat UT and OU under his current offense.

So, do you want Rhule here or gone? *****zo post here:

He needs to be gone because only a horrible coach would lose to Liberty and UTSA and Duke..

and then you say:

His looking for another job is just one more straw on the camels back

and

I am willing to change my mind if he can recruit his way out of this hole.

I mean, dang, make up your mind.

Two things I know:
1. Matt Rhule is Baylor's coach. Period. No matter anyone's opinion of the BOR or whatever.
2. if any employee for any company, anywhere is not being recruited by another company, he must either suck at their job or others don't think highly of him.

A child could understand my point. No point in explaining it again.

The two things you know are impressive but #1 is obvious. #2 is missing "everyone knows he is committed to his current job and not looking". Matt Rhule was not recruited anyway. Thats just silly. Guy made a call because he can't handle his current job.

can you prove if Rhule made the call or the Colts made the call? Are you his secretary or his agent or have his cell phone records?

The point is that there was some interest by the Colts. Even if Rhule was #999 on their Top 1000 list of potential hires, he was apparently being considered to some degree. To what degree, no one know except the folks in the Indianapolis Colts' front office.

It hasn't happened more often because almost all Baylor coaches aside from 2 were particularly bad.

He is still the guy who did that miracle at Temple.

Soon he will be the guy that picked up Baylor, dusted them off, and brought them back .... or not
