Physical, mental development over previous 12 months key for Tecklenburg

Baylor center Sam Tecklenburg was thrown to then wolves as a sophomore playing on the offensive line for the first time in his career in 2017. Now 12 months at the position, Tecklenburg feels more comfortable and ready than ever.

The transition from tight end to center has been a work in progress for Baylor's Sam Tecklenburg. He first filled in at tackle for the Bears in the spring of 2017 as injuries and departures left the Bears limited in their depth, but his brain wasn't exactly focused on the offensive line. He viewed himself as a tight end at the time and was doing what he could to help his team prepare from practice to practice. Move forward a month to the summer and circumstances changed. He was approached by the Baylor staff and asked his opinion on making the transition to the offensive line permanently before summer workouts began, leaving Tecklenburg with a big decision to make.
