Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby praises Baylor's leadership

FRISCO, Texas - As the Big 12 continues to withhold a significant portion of Baylor's conference revenue, Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby was asked specifically about where the Big 12 program stands in regards to satisfying the conference on the first day of the Big 12 Media Days on Monday. 

Bowlsby would not comment directly to the details of the status, but did provide an update to media members in attendance.

"As you know, we are doing a verification process that is not an investigation," Bowlsby stated. "It's a verification of 105 recommendations that Pepper Hamilton put forward. We are still in the process of doings that and I expect we will bring it to a close in the not too distant future."

Bowlsby went on to praise Baylor's Director of Athletics Mack Rhoades and head football coach Matt Rhule. Bowlsby additionally commented on University President Linda Livingstone's leadership throughout her first year on campus.

"Beyond that, Mack Rhoades has done an outstanding job working with us on it and has done an outstanding job working with the verification committee, and Matt Rhule, as good of a football coach as he is, he's an even better human being," Bowlsby said. 

There is not current timeline for the league's process to be completed according to Bowlsby.

"We will continue our process, we will issue a report and we've said publically that we will issue a written report. When we can make more comments on it we will do so.

As for the on-going NCAA investigation, Bowlsby stated he had no additional information to share.

"You're talking about the NCAA investigation? No, I don't have any information on time frame," Bowlsby said. "We're kept informed, but it's mostly after the fact, and that's a separate process. We will know what happens when it's at the end.
