As Terence Williams was recovering from an offseason injury in the non-conference porition of the schedule, JaMycal Hasty left with his own injury late in the second quarter against Liberty that forced him to miss the following four games. The unfortunate early season circumstances were the start of a significant injury trend for Baylor's running backs in the 2017 season.
