Kingsbury texted Rhule! Think Rhule texted back with an OC offer?

We already have an OC. Two actually.

In most cases, including this one, one of the co-coordinators is more a position coach with game-planning input than a true coordinator. Only one guy calls the plays. And as we've seen every time we've played a team we can block, that guy is more than competent.

As our offensive line continues to improve, people will slowly come around to the fact that our problems the past two years have had far more to do with our ability to protect our quarterback and clear holes for our running back than scheme or play-calling.

I'm pretty sure two people are calling plays. Nixon and Rhule

Well that's confusing...how does Brewer know which one to pick?

Since Rhule is always the one in the O huddle during time-outs , it's safe to say that he is the de-facto OC. What we'll get as far as play calling is probably somewhere between the last 2:35 with 2 time-outs to end the first half against TT which was terrible, and the 2nd half against TT which turned out very good. I also think that playing Lovett and Ebner was a big key to victory

Walk me through the last 2:35 of the first half and why play calling was terrible - with specifics. Seems to me that job number one was not to give Tech the ball back. If we used timeouts earlier and didn't pick up a first down - then Tech would have had plenty of time to try to score. If we had been successful in getting more first downs then we had more than enough time with 2 timeouts to press things downfield more. As it was, Tech screwed up by not calling timeout with 19 seconds left and allowed us to throw a hail mary on the last play. While the execution was terrible, the call was exactly right. Had Kliff called timeout, we would have punted and not had a shot - albeit a small one - to throw it in the end zone. Seems like I remember that very strategy working out for Tech against us before.

Looking forward to your analysis of what was wrong with the end of the half play calling.

Since Jeff Nixon is calling plays from the booth, it'd be pretty damn hard for him to make it down to field level to lead the huddle on every timeout, wouldn't it?

That's true Mitch, but players and Rhule himself, have implied and outright said that Rhule controls the O. Hey, if that wins, great.

I was wondering the same thing. I've never seen any such quotes from anyone, and I try to pay pretty close attention to this stuff.

Calling a play and controlling the offense are two different things.

They've got some random poster claiming to be a former player telling everyone that Rhule runs the offense, which is comical because then the next thread is about who to replace our OC with...

Yeah... that was the fake field goal earlier this year that was a bad bad decision.

The fake field goal against OSU was a great call, just poorly executed. Galitz had two open receivers to throw to -- one for the first down and one for the TD -- and he missed the deep option by a mile. That happens.

The one that was a bad call that I remember Rhule owning up to was the reverse pass against Kansas State that resulted in the interception. That was an unnecessary risk at a time we were moving the ball well without trickery.

Our OL is bad...until we improve drastically at OL

Any OC will look bad in his playcalling

The 3rd down play at the end of the first half before the Hail Mary attempt was going to be a touchdown. The right guard didn't pick up the blitz. If he had, Brewer connects with Hurd because he left his defender falling on a double move.

Are we sure Nixon is in the booth? Could have swore I saw him won the sideline during tech game.

Nixon is the one on field. Glenn Thomas our QB/CoOC is up in the booth.

In quite a few of the games the last two years. (Second half of TCU this year). Rhule has taken over offensive play calling.
