2014 Class Rewind

The 2014 Signing Class for Baylor had 24 signees and was ranked 25 by 247Sports. The class was considered the top class in the country for wide receivers Cannon, Hall, Zamora, and Platt. Here is a look back at how they arrived and what those 24 signees became over their Baylor careers.


2014: Blake Blackmar OL 6-5 325 (Clear Lake HS)

Blackmar started 37 games

2018: Blake Blackmar OG 6-5 326

Career:  Blackmar started 37 of his career leading 51 games played. Blackmar played through injury in 2017 and was a leader on and off the field as a 2018, 2017 and 2016 Academic All-Big 12 first team member and Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. 


2014: Jourdan Blake DB 5-11 180 (Princeton HS)

2017: Jourdan Blake CB 5-11 185

Career:  Blake started 1 game of the 12 he played in and recorded 1 tackle. He graduated and transferred to SMU after leaving the team during the 2017 season.


2014 Jarell Broxton OL 6-5 325 (Lackawanna College)

2015: Jarell Broxton OG 6-5 325

Career:  Broxton started 21 of his 26 games played in 2 seasons. He was 1st team All-Big 12 in 2015 and then was picked up by Baltimore as an UDFA where he spent time on their practice squad.


2014 Grant Campbell LB 6-0 230 (Bakersfield College)

2015: Grant Campbell LB 6-1 230

Career:  Campbell started all 13 games of his Senior season after backing up all 13 in 2014. Grant had 101 tackles with 67 being solo. He had 3.5 sacks, 6 tackles for loss, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 pass defensed.


2014: KD Cannon WR 5-11 160 (Mount Pleasant HS)

2016: KD Cannon WR 5-11 180

Career:  Started 32 of 39 games and recorded 2876 yards on 183 receptions and 25 touchdowns. Cannon also had 3 carries for 14 yards and 4 tackles. Cannon entered the NFL Draft as a Junior and went undrafted and is now in the CFL.

Feuerbacher finished with 16 receptions

2014: Jordan Feuerbacher TE 6-3 250 (Kingwood Park HS)

2017: Jordan Feuerbacher TE 6-4 271

Career:  Started 16 of the 36 games he played in. Finished with 16 receptions, 192 yards, and 3 touchdowns. Feuerbacher battled injuries his Senior season and hung up the cleats following a career ending back injury after the 2017 season. He worked with the tight ends in 2018 as a student assistant.


2014: Davion Hall WR 6-2 190 (Liberty-Eylau HS)

2017: Davion Hall S 6-1 210

Career:  17 starts in the 45 games he played over his four season career. Hall moved to safety in 2016 after playing wide receiver his first two seasons. As a wide receiver Hall had 20 receptions for 287 yards and 2 touchdowns. At safety, Hall had 109 total tackles with 80 being solo, 1 interception, 4 passes defensed, 2 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble.


2014: Jamie Jacobs DE 6-3 225 (Midway HS) 

2018: Jamie Jacobs TE 6-4 243

Career:  Jacobs had 3 starts in his 26 career games played before his career ended due to injury prior to 2018. He served as a student assistant after graduating in December 2017. Jacobs ended his career with 29 tackles, 17 being solo, a sack, and 2.5 tackles for loss.


2014: Devonte Jones OL 6-2 305 (Bellaire HS) 

Career:  Jones never played for the Bears and left the team soon after enrolling.


2014: Xavier Jones DE 6-3 235 (Magnolia West HS) 

2018: Xavier Jones DE 6-3 228

Career:  Jones started 4 games in 28 games played. His career had just begun to take off when a broken leg in 2017 derailed his season. Over his career, Xavier had 33 tackles, with 19 solo, 10.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.


Lawrence started 38 games

2014: Patrick Lawrence OL 6-5 275 (Waxahachie HS) 

2018: Patrick Lawrence OT 6-6 311

Career:  Lawrence started 38 of his career leading 51 games played. Like his right guard counterpart, Patrick will be missed off the field for being named to fall 2014, spring 2017 and spring 2018 Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, and 2016 and 2017 Academic All-Big 12 first team.


2014: Ira Lewis DL 6-3 280 (Lamar HS) 

2018: Ira Savage-Lewis DT 6-3 290

Career:  Lewis started 31 of 43 career games. Across those 43 games Lewis ended his career with 98 tackles, 57 being solo, 11 sacks, 22.5 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery.


2014: Blake Mahon TE 6-5 245 (Coppell HS) 

Career: Unfortunately for Baylor and Blake, he was not cleared to play due to an injury to his back from a horse riding accident before high school.


2014: Josh Malin DE 6-5 265 (Steele HS)

2018:  Josh Malin OT 6-6 301

Career:  Malin had 4 starts in 34 career games played. Malin began his career on the defensive line and missed a season due to foot surgery. Josh then moved to tight end in 2016 and finally offensive tackle in 2017 where he found a home while healthy. 


2014: Andrew Morris DT 6-1 290 (John Horn HS) 

2017: Andrew Morris FB 6-2 235

Career: Morris played in 24 games and recorded 1 tackle in his first two seasons. He moved to fullback in 2017, played in four games, graduated, and gave up football.


2014: Josh Pelzel OL 6-6 335 (Rockdale HS) 

2016: Josh Pelzel OG 6-6 320

Career:  Played in 7 games before medically retiring due to knee injuries.


A knee injury ended Platt’s 2017 season

2014: Chris Platt WR 5-9 160 (Willis HS) 

2018: Chris Platt WR 5-11 170

Career:  Platt had 27 starts in his 43 games played. Over those 43 games, Chris had 97 receptions for 1627 yards and 11 touchdowns. He added 7 rushes for 75 yards on sweeps. He also tallied three tackles on special teams. In the kick return game he had 16 returns for 412 yards.


2014: Greg Roberts DL 6-5 210 (Nacogdoches)

2018: Greg Roberts DE 6-5 264

Career: Roberts started 24 games in the 43 he played. Over those 43 games, Greg totalled 80 tackles with 52 being solo. He had 3 sacks, 15.5 tackles of loss, 9 passes defensed, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 blocked kicks.


2014: Chris Sanders DB 5-11 180 (Eastern Arizona College) 

Career:  Sanders was injured much of his career and left Baylor due to not being medically cleared.


2014: Verkedric Vaughns DB 5-9 170 (Poteet HS) 

2018: Verkedric Vaughns S 5-10 193

Career: Vaughns started 18 of his 46 games played. Over those 46 games, Verkedric totalled 113 tackles with 85 being solo. He also had a sack, 7 tackles for loss, 12 passes defensed, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.


2014: Chance Waz DB 5-10 175 (Hendrickson HS) 

2017: Chance Waz S 5-11 180

Career:  Waz started 19 of his 42 games played across four seasons at safety. Chance had 140 total tackles with 103 being solo, 6 passes defensed, 2 tackles for loss, and 1 fumble recovery. 


2014: Terence Williams RB 6-3220 (Ennis HS) 

2017: Terence Williams RB 6-2 222

Career:  Williams had 11 starts in 29 games played before transferring to Houston after graduating. In his career Terence had 1762 yards on 330 attempts and 13 touchdowns. He also had 8 receptions for 62 yards. He also had one tackle in 2016.


2014: Tion Wright CB 5-8 170 (Moorpark College) 

2016: TIon Wright CB 5-10 180

Career:  Wright had 7 starts in 32 games played. Tion had 41 total tackles and 38 solo across those 32 games and also had 1 interception, 6 passes defensed, and 1 forced fumble.


Zamora attended the Texas Bowl to support his teammates

2014: Ishmael Zamora WR 6-4 195 (Elsik HS) 

2016: Ishmael Zamora WR 6-4 215

Career:  Started 8 games in the 23 he played. Zamora had 917 yards on 71 receptions and 10 touchdowns. He carried 5 times for 27 yards and added 5 tackles during his two seasons. Zamora entered the NFL draft as a redshirt sophomore and went undrafted.
