Baylor crushes ACU in first round of NCAA Tournament, 95-38
WACO, Texas — No. 1-seed Baylor outscored 16-seed Abilene Christian 26-3 in the first quarter of play inside the Ferrell Center on Saturday afternoon on their way to a blowout victory in the opening round of the 2019 Women’s NCAA Tournament. The Lady Bears defeated the Wildcats, 95-38.
Led by Kalani Brown’s 17 points, five Lady Bears finished the game in double figures and 10 scored at least two points. Lauren Cox (14), Juicy Landrum (14), NaLyssa Smith (14) and Aquira DeCotsa (11) were the four Lady Bears to reach double figures.
Brown added 11 rebounds to her offensive output to record a double-double while Smith collected her own double-double with 10 rebounds. Cox added 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks to her totals.
The win for Baylor moved them to 32-1 on the season while Abilene Christian finishes their season at 23-10.
Baylor will face 8-seed California on Monday evening at 8 p.m. CT in Waco.
