Athlon Sports: Baylor ready for another jump, but not for the top 25

Athlon Sports continued their discussion of the 2019 Baylor football team with a recent article previewing and, though not providing a specific prediction, stating a rough expectation for Matt Rhule’s third season in Waco. 

The article identified key players on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball along with speical teams, specifically mentioning Charlie Brewer, Denzel Mims, Trestan Ebner and a host of other players offensively, and many of the Bears front seven on defense. 

As expected, mentions of Baylor’s need to improve in pass protection and forcing turnovers were highlighted to improve on the 2018 season with quotes from Baylor defensive coordinator Phil Snow. 

Overall, the publication believes the Bears will improve on their seven wins from a year ago, but aren’t expected to make the climb that puts them in the top 25 to close the season.

Final Analysis

Making a similar jump and becoming a Big 12 title contender will be difficult, but the Bears should be good enough to top last year's seven-win total and make it to their ninth bowl game in 10 years.
