WACO, Texas – Junior defensive lineman James Lynch was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for Week 13 of the season, it was announced today by the conference office.

Lynch collected 2.0 sacks in the Bears’ 24-10 victory over Texas to give himself 19.0 career sacks, setting the new program record for sacks in a career. The junior also had 1 QB hurry and 1 pass breakup to his name as the Bears broke a four-game losing streak to the Longhorns and won their first home game over their in-state rival since 2013. Lynch and the Bears solidified a spot in the Big 12 Championship game on Dec. 7 with the victory.

For the season Lynch now has 10.5 sacks, good for second most in a season by a Bear and a half sack away from tying the record. He also had 14.5 TFL, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 12 QB hurries, 5 pass breakups and 2 blocked kicks in his stellar junior season.

The honor is the first of Lynch’s career and the fourth Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honor for the Bears this season, the most in one season in program history. Overall, the Bears have collected a program-best 10 weekly honorees this season.

Lynch and the Bears head out on the road for their final regular season contest of 2019, heading to Kansas on Saturday, Nov. 30 for a 2:30 p.m. CT kick on ESPN.

Well deserved, bravo! I am anticipating first team all Big 12 for Lunch and Roy, and maybe second team for Lock. That's a pretty stout D line. What say you? Agreed, or are there better players, like the guys at WVU, TCU, etc?
