LAWRENCE, Kansas – The Baylor Bears dominated the Kansas Jayhawks 61-6 to finish 11-1 for the regular season.

Shot out of the gate: The Baylor offense was sensational to start this game. On their first three possessions, they came away with three quick touchdowns. On those drives, they went 199 yards in just 14 plays. That’s 14.2 yards per play. Their electric offense to start the game allowed Baylor to take a commanding 21-0 lead in the first quarter.

Struggled: It’s hard to point fingers at an individual in a blowout win like this, but I’m going to go with Charlie Brewer on this one. Charlie did not have the kind of game that was expected of him in a blowout win against Kanas. His accuracy was sub-par and he only completed 13 of his 25 passes. Not to mention, he threw a bad interception late in the first half. Charlie could not get going on the ground either, as he had 2 carries for -12 yards. He didn’t play at all in the second half, so he did not have a chance to improve. However, Brewer should expect more out of himself in a game like this.

Decisive Moment: The kickoff. As soon as this game started, Baylor dominated the game.

MVP: JaMycal Hasty had an incredible game, especially in the red zone. He finished with 14 carries for 92 yards and 3 touchdowns. Hasty also had a catch for 14 yards. All in all, Hasty continues to show just how valuable he is to this team. His ability to fight through tackles and score has proven to be a ticket to success for Baylor’s red zone offense.

Key stat: Baylor forced 6 turnovers. The Bears’ special teams were able to come down with two muffed punts early in the game that put the offense in great positions to score. The defense also came away with 4 interceptions. This allowed Baylor to put up points in a hurry and run away with the game.

Game Notes:

  • Heading into the game, Baylor had a 14-4 record all-time against Kansas.
  • The last time Baylor lost to Kansas was in 2007, when the unranked Bears lost 58-10 to the 20th ranked Jayhawks.
  • There has only been one shut out in the 19 matchups between these teams, when Baylor was on the wrong side of a 22-0 game in 1971.
  • The Jayhawks have scored at least 7 points in every matchup against the Bears since 1998.
  • The largest victory Baylor has had against Kansas was their 66-7 win in 2015. This was Baylor’s second largest victory against Kansas.

I disagree a bit about criticising Charlie. First don't forget the gusty wind, and second remember Rhule clearly limited Charlie so he would be healthy next week. Those alone can explain his pass accuracy. But i am also sure that Charlie will work hard this week to be at his best for Saturday.
That which does not kill me, will try again and get nastier
