Temple DC Phil Snow to join Matt Rhule at Baylor

Temple defensive coordinator Phil Snow is expected to join Matt Rhule at Baylor, SicEm365 has learned. Snow spent four seasons as the defensive coordinator for Matt Rhule from 2013-2016 and produced a top 10 defensive unit in the country in the 2016 season.

A California native, Snow began his coaching career in 1976 a the high school ranks before quickly moving to the collegiate level. Snow’s first defensive coordinator gig was at Boise State (1983-1986) before eventually moving on to coach defensive backs at Cal (1987-1991).

Snow then made a move to Arizona State to coach the same position before eventually being promote to the DC position from 1995-2000. Snow also spent time as the DC at UCLA (2001-2002) and Washington (2003-2004).

Snow made a move the NFL level to coach with the Detroit Lions where he spent a total of four seasons as an defensive assistant from 2005-2008. He returned to the collegiate level in 2010 as the defensive coordinator for Eastern Michigan fro 2010-2012 before taking the same position at Temple in 2013.

In 2014, Temple’s scoring defense ranked No. 7 in the country at 19.1 points per game. Snow followed that season up with the No. 13-ranked scoring defense (20.7 ppg) in 2015 and the No. 11-ranked scoring defense (18.7 ppg) in his final season at Temple.

To match his scoring defenses, Temple ranked No. 36, 16 and 4 in total defense from 2014-2016 under his direction.
