BREAKING: Abilene (TX) HS RB Abram Smith commits to Baylor

Baylor continues to address immediate needs under new head football coach Matt Rhule and his coaching staff. On Saturday, the Bears landed 2017 running back Abram Smith‍  (6-0, 195) of Abilene (TX) High School.

A mid-term graduate, Smith will enroll at Baylor for the upcoming spring semester. Smith will join only two running backs in Terence Williams and JaMycal Hasty who return for the 2017 season.

Smith, who was originally committed to Tulsa, also held offers from Texas Tech and Army while receiving interest from Arkansas and Iowa State. Smith took an official visit to Texas Tech in December.

As a senior Smith was named the District 3-6A MVP following a season which he rushed for 1,773 yards and 32 touchdowns on 215 carries. He also caught eight passes for 79 yards and one score.

In his four year high school career, Smith rushed for a total of 4,373 yards and 60 touchdowns on 337 carries and caught 29 passes for 341 yards and three scores.

Smith is the fourth member of Baylor's 2017 recruiting class that continues to rebuild from the ground up.

Says he is the fourth member. Is that number just for mid-term enrollies? Total is 6.

Wyatt Schrepfer was placed on scholarship for 2016, but not sure if he will be for 2017.

Right. 6 are listed on the Commit Page -- http://sicem365.com/football-recruiting/commits

3 are Early Enrollees (Abram Smith, Charlie Brewer, Jalen Pitre).

Colt says "Smith is the fourth member of Baylor's 2017 recruiting class".

So which of the 6 are 2017 and which are 2016?
