I arrived on campus as a walk-on in 1981. Alfred Anderson was humble. He was low-key and was a great person. He was all that was good about Baylor Football. On the field, he was a fierce competitor and just plain ran over me more than once. He was all business on the field but kind and giving off the field. Glad he is doing well. He is one of the good guys.

1979 Texas High School Player of the year on a fourth place in our district team. Let that sink in. Baylor's all time leading TD scorer up until a few years ago. NFL Rookie of the year in 1984 on a 3 win team. Why is he Not in the Texas Sports Hall of Fame?

Richfield Rams. Probably one of the most underachieving high school teams in Texas for years. Lots of good college players somehow came from there.

I had two BU teammates who were Killeen Kangaroos. They used to laugh about their coach letting the Roo starters put on their street clothes at halftime to watch the Richfield Ram Band perform. They did not play the second half. My wife was a Ramette and she confirmed the story.

Alfred is a great Bear.

His wife Kim (HINES) now Anderson is the daughter of Jim Hines. The first man to officially break the 10 second barrier in the 100 meters in winning the GOLD MEDAL for the U.S.A. team in Mexico City.
Truly one of the best and a dear dear friend. Kim and Alfred have a son (my nephew Alex) who is a great young guy. Hope one day he will be a BEAR and not follow in his mother's footsteps and attend A&M.
Summer before his freshman year AA and I met while he was trying to find his class as he strolled across the QUAD. We met then and have been best friends ever since. My brother and I even named one of our busines ventures in Iowa after ALFRED. He couldn't get over how we did that and noted it was more than most have done for him even though he is as humble as they come.
In case you don't know he was the #1 rated QB in AMERICA coming out of high school but realized real soon that the NFL wasn't ready for black QB's thus made the switch to RB after he messed up his wrist in his freshman year at Baylor.
