Baylor will welcome a total of four high school mid-term prospects to the football program this week as they enroll into school to begin the spring semester. The four early enrollees are new head coach Matt Rhule's first signed prospect since taking the position in early December.

WR, RJ Sneed (6-2, 185) - Cypress Ranch

40: 4.45 Powerball: 37 Vertical: 29.1

As of the time this article was written, Sneed was noted as Baylor’s highest rated recruit of the 2017 class according to multiple recruiting outlets. Sneed had a solid year with 40 receptions for 700 yards and 8 TD’s. After originally committing to TCU on Feb. 13, Sneed eventually decommitted from the Frogs in September and gave his pledge to Ole Miss of the SEC in November. Fast-forward two months and Baylor added an important piece to their 2017 class.

RB, Abram Smith (6-0, 196) - Abilene High School

40-yard Dash: 4.59 Powerball: 37.5 Vertical: 31.0

Smith is a standout running back from Abilene, Texas. According to MaxPreps, Smith had right over 4,000 yards rushing in his high school career, including 32 touchdowns in his senior season alone bringing his high school career total to 55. Smith originally committed to Tulsa on May 9 before decommitting and changing his commitment to Baylor. He also held an offer from Texas Tech.

QB, Charlie Brewer (6-1, 190) - Lake Travis High School

40-yard Dash: 4.58 Powerball: N/A Vertical: N/A

In a state championship season, Brewer had a video game type senior season. According to MaxPreps, Brewer threw for 3,927 yards while completing 77 percent of his passes with only three interceptions. Brewer was responsible for 126 TD’s in his high school career with 19 coming on the ground and another 107 through the air. Brewer was originally committed to SMU and thought to have been solid there, but Matt Rhule and company put the pressure on him and won him over the course of a few weeks. Brewer also held an offer from West Virginia.

ATH, Jalen Pitre (6-0, 195) - Stafford High School

40-yard dash: 4.65 Powerball: N/A Vertical: N/A

Possibly the most endeared prospect of the list, Pitre held loyal with his commitment through the firing of former head coach Art Briles and the hiring of Rhule. After a significant injury as a junior, Pitre returned to the field as a senior and collected 83 tackles, six interceptions, and forced four fumbles. Pitre also added a sack on the season. The three-star athlete is expected to play in the defensive backfield for the Bears, but has the ability to play the running back position as well.

So if needed and Baylor signs between 26 and 29 in the class, Baylor can move some or all of these four early enrollee 2017 recruits into the 2016 batch? Is that how it works?

Yes, all four of these can be counted towards the 2016 class which was 11 short of 25. If Baylor has any other mid-term signees, they may also be counted back to 2016 until the 12th recruit, which would then go towards 2017.

At this point, Baylor can have up to 29 signees enroll from January 2017 to August 2017. The number could grow with transfers and possible JC signees graduating this week.

Thank you Brian! Great to have this flexibility that hopefully will be needed.

It's tremendous to have these guys not only committed but also enrolling early. This will really help their development and our recovery from our glaring depth issues. Such an exciting time to be a Baylor fan.
