BREAKING: Baylor adds one-time 2020 LSU commit Lorando Johnson to roster
Baylor received a major addition to the 2020 recruiting class Friday as Lancaster High School cornerback Lorando Johnson Jr. committed to the Bears. The four-star prospect originally pledged to LSU but did not sign on National Signing Day in February.
Johnson’s connection to Baylor dates back to Aranda’s time at LSU, where he served as the defensive coordinator and was one of the main reasons for Johnson ultimately selecting the Bears.
At The Opening in 2019, Johnson was measured at 5-foot-11 and 181 pounds. He posted a time of 4.54-seconds in the 40-yard dash and clocked 4.21 seconds in the shuttle. He also recorded a 36-inch vertical.
The highly-sought-after prospect had offers from Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, TCU and Texas A&M, among others.
Landing Johnson gives Baylor an extremely athletic addition to a cornerback unit that needed more depth after losing Jameson Houston to graduation. The group only has five scholarship players, not including the 2020 signees.
