On Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after Baylor’s final game of the 2020 football season, Baylor senior quarterback Charlie Brewer announced on Twitter that he would be entering his name into the transfer portal with intentions of playing his final season of college football elsewhere.
“It is with much thought and prayer that I am announcing I will be entering the transfer portal and moving on as a graduate transfer. A heartfelt thank you to my teammates, Coach Rhule and Coach Aranda for an amazing ride the past four years here at Baylor. I will take with me a lifetime of great memories and a degree from Baylor University,” Brewer wrote.
Brewer finished his Baylor career ranking No. 2 in a large number of statistical passing categories behind only 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.
Over four years at Baylor, the Lake Travis High School product completed 63.5% of his passes for 9,700 yards with 65 touchdowns against 28 interceptions. Brewer also added 1,039 yards rushing with 22 scores.
Brewer started every game of Baylor’s 2019 season where the Bears reached the Big 12 Championship where they fell to Oklahoma. Baylor finished the season with an 11-3 record and accepted an invitation to play Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
