Baylor senior Xavier Newman-Johnson plans to return for 2021

Fourth-year senior Xavier Newman (6-2, 315) announced on Twitter Monday evening that he would return to Baylor to play a final season as a Bear in 2021.

The DeSoto (TX) High School prospect played in each of his first four seasons as a Bear, but due to the NCAA ruling that allows all players an extra year of eligibity in lew of the COVID-19 virus, Newman had the option to return for a fifth season that typically would not be available. 

Newman played in five games in 2020 giving him 33 career games played. Newman has seen time at center and left guard with 23 career starts. Newman played in just five of Baylor’s nine games in 2020. He started four of those.
