One week ago, Baylor head Coach Dave Aranda made the decision to part ways with Offensive Coordinator Larry Fedora and Passing Game Coordinator Jorge Munoz. Baylor Director of Athletics spoke with SicEm365 Radio about that decision on Tuesday.

“That was coach’s decision and those are always difficult,” Rhoades said. “Hopefully anytime you do it you’re very thoughtful about doing it and understand all of the pieces that are tied to it.

""Somebody that's going to help us with an identity on offense," Rhoades said. "Build something that's really elite, something that's forward thinking, something where defenses don't catch up because you're always evolving."

This is encouraging. There wasn't a lot of evident evolving going on with the offense last year, seemed like a forced system. Only in the last couple of games did they even revert somewhat to some things that were bettered tailored to the personnel.

That's a very hopeful statement.

That is just a statement. The proof will be in the pudding. He said his hire in 17 would be the same type of offensive mind.

True. But it is a statement that shows he seems to understand the major problem that was going on with his offensive staff and philosophy. Giving a high profile coach a do-over year and blaming it on covid and injuries would have been the easy thing to do.

This was a statement by the AD not the HC, who I don't believe has issued any comment about these recent moves. Who is running the football program? Sounds like you are stating Mack thinks he is the HC the way you phrased this. CT was criticized for saying he heard something like this may be happening.

Incidentally you said the easy thing to do woukd be to cut some slack for COvID and injuries. Why is this an excuse only for Aranda then?

An AD talking about what his coach is looking for in an OC candidate is no way any proof he is meddling.

Hopefully. DOUg may have not provided the entire quote and the context.

Has Randa said anything about the O changes?

I have no problem with our AD being proactive- we need to right the ship and start producing a consistent winner.

I don't think Mack is a terrible enough AD to make assistant coaching moves that the head coach didn't want. If he's doing that he should have started with the head coach, because that dog ain't gonna hunt.
