Sources: Baylor to hire LSU Sr. Associate S&C Coach Vic Viloria

According to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, head coach Dave Aranda is set to hire  LSU Sr. Associate Strength & Conditioning Coach Vic Viloria as Director of Athletic Performance.

Viloria spent three seasons at LSU under head strength coach Tommy Moffit from 2018-2020 after a one single season with his alma mater SMU in 2017. 

Prior to his time at LSU and SMU, Viloria worked as the head strength and conditioning coach under the direction of Jimbo Fisher at Florida State from 2010-2017 where he helped the program to multiple ACC titles and a national championship in 2013. 

The Calmette, La., native joined head coach Fisher’s staff in January 2010 from his alma mater SMU, where he spent the previous three seasons as the head strength and conditioning coach.

Viloria was a major part of Florida State’s resurgence last decade when the Seminoles won three ACC Championships including an 14-0 season and captured the BCS National Championship in 2013. FSU appeared in five straight BCS/“New Year’s Six” bowls. During a three-year stretch under Vilora’s direction, 29 Seminoles total were drafted in the 2013, 2014 and 2015 Drafts.

Under Viloria, FSU became the first college football program to utilize advanced GPS technology to measure energy exertion and regulate rest and physical action.

A disciple of renowned weightlifting coach Gayle Hatch, Viloria endorses the “Hatch System” which develops functional and explosive strength in players through the use of free weights, plyometrics and jumping drills.

Viloria was a four-year letter winner at linebacker for SMU and a three-time member of the All-Western Athletic Conference team. He led the Mustangs in tackles each of his final three seasons and recorded at least 10 tackles in 21 games over the course of his career.
