Baylor has always been tops for Hall

On Tuesday evening, Bryan offensive lineman Ylijaah Hall let Baylor’s head football coach Matt Rhule know that he was making his verbal pledge to the Bears. Hall had originally told SicEm365 he planned to make his commitment closer to the summer.

“He was pretty pumped, and so was I,” Hall said. “Coach Rhule has that energy that spreads instantly!”

For Hall, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before he pulled the trigger after being offered by the new Baylor staff following his Feb. 18 visit to Waco for Baylor's first junior day.

“The staff, school, area, direction in which the program is going, proximity to home - it all works perfectly,” said Hall when he was asked what made him commit relatively early in his recruitment.

According to Hall, he had been “really impressed” by the entire Baylor staff, particularly with their experience and enthusiasm. He made special note of the relationship he has already forged with Coach George DeLeone and how significant the former NFL coach's experience at his position is to him as an offensive lineman.

Knowing that other schools are almost certain to come calling in upcoming months, Hall maintains that his commitment to Baylor (the first and only school to offer him at this point) is solid.

“BU has been one of my top choices all along,” he reasoned. And, in Hall, Baylor is landing a kid who describes himself as "a person of high character, an extremely hard worker, and a great teammate who goes 100% all the time."

As just the third player to commit to Baylor’s 2018 class so far, Hall recognizes the important role he will likely play in the coming months. Specifically, Hall intends to be in Waco at various points this Spring to get to know other recruits and encourage them to join Josh Fleeks, Jackson Kimble, and himself.

“I’m going to push guys to join #Wacover18,” Hall vowed.

Hall is expected to receive visits from coaches from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas A&M and Houston during the spring evaluation period.
