WACO, Texas — The No. 14/15 Baylor softball team swept a doubleheader on Tuesday in Waco with a 3-0 against Incarnate World and an 8-2 win against UTSA to up their season record to 23-4.

The Lady Bears are now ready to travel down to Orlando to take on University of Central Florida in a weekend series, with the first game set to begin at 6 p.m. ET on Friday, the second at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, and the third at 12 p.m. ET Sunday.

Last season, the UCF Knights were shut out by Baylor in a similar series in Waco, with the Lady Bears winning 3-1 and 2-0 in an opening doubleheader before securing a 3-0 win the next day to sweep the series. Baylor leads the all-time series against the Knights 3-1.

In last year’s game against UCF, sophomore pitcher Gia Rodoni (7-0) appeared for the first time in a Baylor uniform as a freshman and had two strikeouts in the final inning of the final game. In her most recent outing on Tuesday against UTSA, Rodoni had three strikeouts and allowed two unearned runs on five hits.

Fans should also keep an eye on junior infielder Shelby Friudenberg, who upped her on-base streak to 24 games on Tuesday, and senior pitcher Kelsee Selman (11-2), who allowed three hits with three strikeouts against UTSA, and overall a 1.45 ERA with 61 strikeouts in 77.1 innings.

The Lady Bears lead the Big 12 with a winning percentage of .852, and are on a current five-game winning streak. The Knights sit at 14-10 on the season.

Although the Knights are unranked, the Lady Bears may have to watch out for junior infielder Courtney Rotton, who has posted a .348 batting average and a team-high RBI of 14, and junior outfielder Megan Greenwell, who is hitting .311 on the season and is the team leader with 14 stolen bases on 14 attempts this season.

Baylor will take on Kansas in Lawrence next weekend in their first conference play after a mid-week game against Sam Houston State at home on Tuesday.
