Baylor baseball (7-12, 1-1) picked up its first conference win of the season with an 8-4 defeat of Kansas State (13-5, 1-1) on Saturday afternoon at Baylor Ballpark.
In the loss, freshman INF Kolby Branch extended his on-base streak to 15 games, and sophomore 1B John Ceccoli went 3-4 with his second home run in two days.
Led by Jared McKenzie, Baylor's offense scored 36 runs in four games. Tyler Thomas, Kobe Andrade, and Will Rigney were combined to give up 5 ER in 17 IP.
The Bears led 5-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth thanks to great performances from Kobe Andrade and Kyle Nevin, but the bullpen could not keep the lead.
