We decided that Texas was worth exploring in total and to do it we decided to visit every county seat. It took us five years. We are doing the podcast to sort of recap our journey and express what we found. We are also putting together a website-travel guide application. That is not quite ready yet but will be soon. We have two releases a week. On Thursday we drop an episode about a place in Texas. Those episodes are ten minutes long. On Sundays we do an episode about an aspect of Texas culture.

That is awesome! My dad had a property tax agency business representing mostly banks and large corporations that owned property spread throughout Texas, OK and NM. One job I had in highschool in the summer was to drive to all these little bitty county courthouses to confirm property records. I don't think I've been to them all, but I have been to a LOT. More than 100 for sure.

I had some amazing times. I actually sat on the tailgate of my GMC Jimmy with John Graves and talked about the Lipan Apache. I had a county clerk in Potter County take me to shoot pronghorn in Palo Duro. I watched the sun come up at Ft. Davis, and in Jefferson County, I had my brown-bag lunch stolen from right by my leg by an alligator when I turned to get my Big Red (I let him have it!). I had my car searched by the Texas Border Patrol in Webb County, and I got out of a ticket in Coryell County because my mother sang in the choir with the court clerk's mother. Maybe the best job ever.
