Without giving any spoilers to the show….
I like how they were able to tell the story of Andor, what he did, how he became involved in the rebellion as well as how the rebel alliance started (although I think they could have done just a little more with this), tell the story of multiple other characters, wrap up most of their stories and yet not leave any questions unanswered. Especially none that lead to the complaints people sometimes have of "where was so and so during the OT?"
Which I actually think is not a valid question anyway. The OT was a story that focused on basically 4 main characters and not every person connected with the rebellion or every event. The rebel alliance was made up of multiple groups and a lot of people so it is reasonable to understand that not every event or person was shown in the OT or even mentioned Sort of the same way you can read a book or watch a documentary about a specific battle or even a whole war but there are still things left out to learn more about.
I also liked how they brought in a few stories from other Star Wars stuff and expanded on them more, created more information about the event and made them bigger. Same for other characters that were in Rogue One or the way we really saw Mon Mothma grow from outspoken critic of the empire to leader of the rebels.
I did think the one episode of the stranded rebel group didn't add much to the story and the episode could have been better but at the same time showed how fractured the various groups were and held together by one strong leader with no real sense of a chain of command.
