RIP...

Beach Boys, the epitome of classic. I still turn up their songs when they come on the radio. Wife has Kokomo on her Kenny Chesney playlist. They are "summer".

The Beach Boys and their harmonies were a perfect antidote to the ear splitting instrumentals and 'protest' songs of other groups in the '60's.

Pretty cool...

Major Artists Inspired by The Beach Boys
The Beatles
  • Paul McCartney famously cited Pet Sounds as a major influence on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
  • McCartney called God Only Knows "the greatest song ever written."
Fleetwood Mac
  • Their lush harmonies and layered productions drew from the Beach Boys' vocal arrangements, particularly on albums like Rumours.
Pink Floyd
  • Early Pink Floyd members, especially Syd Barrett, were influenced by the experimental studio work on Pet Sounds.

Interesting side note about The Beach Boys, Brian's brother Dennis was the drummer in the band and had the Manson family living with him for a while.
