My favorite martial arts movie:

Black Belt Jones (1974)

The funeral scene for Pop Byrd's character, played by Scatman Crothers, is incredible.

I took a girl on a first date to see Starship Troopers. She must have really liked me, because she went out with me again.

I'm one of the few people in the known universe that "gets" Hudson Hawk. But it's been a couple of decades since I've seen it.

I tell you what, next time you're surfing around the cable movie channels and you see one called "Ping Pong Summer," stop and watch it.

It's fn' horrible, but intentionally so. It's a recently made movie made exactly like a terrible 80s kid in competition movie. It's so authentically bad it is hilarious.

Early Robert Zemekis with Kurt Russell

How dare you mention one of the greatest movies in the history of American cinema in a discussion of bad movies.

Used Cars was actually directed and co-written by Robert Zemeckis who ended up being kind of a big deal.

It should be required viewing.

Agree

Also it was in the "break away from Disney" era for Kurt Russell - around the same time as the great "Escape from New York"

Yep, it was a career changer at a time when Kurt's career really could have fizzled out.

If you haven't ever watched the DVD commentary track you should check it out. It's pretty funny in its own right. Kurt keeps comparing his character to Bill Clinton, which is spot on.

Of all the moivies listed I have only seen Back to School and Spinal Tap. However, I have seen Rocky Horror Picture Show over 75 times. I went as Rocky a few times (blond hair and a tan).
I have found theres only two ways to go:
Living fast or dying slow.
I dont want to live forever.
But I will live while I'm here.

That's hard to beat but the surf scenery on the quality screens today makes that almost good.

Plus, Gary Busey, humble, ignorant, and the perfect character for that film.

I first saw RHPS at the old Lake Air Cinema when they did a Halloween revival in 1987. When I got to Austin, they had a vigorous gathering with cast showing it at the Northcross Mall. I think they left Northcross around 2002 or so for a theater closer to Pflugerville (the mall was demolished then).

I showed up as "Riff Raff" a couple of times when I was smaller. No one would buy it, now, so I usually just aim for "random Transylvanian partier".

The Waco Civic Theater has a shadow cast they run when they're showing it at the Waco Hippodrome. It's a heck of a lot of fun, but probably best I limit it to "once in awhile" nowadays!

I saw it many times at the old Ivy Square theater near campus. I would get off work at Safeway at 11 and slam a few on the drive down Valley Mills. That was the late 70's or early 80's. I also have seen it in Austin and Houston. The pelvic thrust always drove me insane.

That movie inspired Oliver Stone to make Platoon because he hated it so much.

That was, without a doubt, one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Dougie Houser as a villain.

Starship Troopers is like Sharknado. It is intentionally bad and sarcastic. That's the humor.

LOL, just last week in Waco i pulled up to a red light next to the blue Corvette in the opening scene. It even still has that huge engine blowing out the hood. I immediately thought about this terrible old movie.

Some great movies listed here. I love some of them.
Xanadu is awesome, roller skating meetings theatre meets 70s80s music...it's awesome
Hudson Hawk is totally underrated. Probably seen it 50 times.
The Last Dragon is greatness.
Clerks is really a good film but I am partial to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (my wife hates that movie so much she threatens divorce when I want to watch it).

Some movies I cant turn off when they are on:
Con Air - why couldnt you just drop the bunny
Grease - I just recently learned this movie may not be ok for kids, I just never thought about it but it really isnt
Shawshank - get busy living or get busy dying
Ace Ventura - and I am saying to him eee, eee, eee

The movie I am ashamed to tell people I love:
Pitch Perfect - it's an Anna Kendrick thing...I would drop everything and move to the moon for that chick, just love her...wife is aware, she gets it.
NoBSU

Lots of greatness on Pitch Perfect.
The Commentators/Broadcasters.

Fat Amy.

My father always said, "If you're not here to win... get the hell outta Kuwait". My father told me, "If at first you don't succeed, pack your bags."

I can't do Hudson Hawk. Just bad bad not good bad.
