How long do you want to ignore this user?

Not films that you like, but one you can relate to. I have a couple and spoon them out

Many my age can relate to this one by Richard Linklater. I am around the age of the incoming freshmen. The look and the feel (absent the hazing) is so much like HS life in Texas in the mid to late 70s - cars, beer, hanging out. And yes, I had a massive beer bash when the parents were out of town.

And if that works, following the same timeline is college life in the early 80s

If you grew up pre video games rock n roll may have meant a great deal more to you than people today. I never wrote articles or followed a band on a road trip, but did have the love the passion of the kid here for music.

The movie is taken from the life of its writer/director, so his passion continues despite his divorce from Nancy Wilson. One thing that you can expect from a Cameron Crowe movie is a great soundtrack.

I believe the soundtrack won a Grammy

I remember as a kid getting a new album and having friends come to my room just to listen to the whole things. In today's adhd world I don't think you could get a kid to sit though an entire LP even if you paid them.

I can remember getting 8 45's for my 13th birthday. I put them on the big stereo and listened to them for hours. Had to put my head next to the speaker so Dad wouldnt be bothered. Seals and Croft, Johnny Nash, Jerry Reed Monkees, Bread, Don McLean, and Three Dog Night. I cant remember the 8th one.

Fire all your guns at once and explode into space. I dont want to die in bed unless I am being shot by a 27 year old jealous husband.

Nazareth "Hair of the Dog" maybe? A friend played that in a car with my parents. That was funny.

"Money" Pink Floyd. "Ramblin' Man" Allman Brothers. "Do it Again" or "Do it Again" Steely Dan. "Live and Let Die" Paul McCartney. "The Cover of the Rolling Stone" Dr. Hook. "Smoke on the Water" Deep Purple. "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" Croce. I got it, Grand Funk Railroad.

I got Magical Mystery Tour and Bookends for Christmas in 1968, first albums I owned. My parents didn't mind Simon & Garfunkel on their turntable, but they didn't like the Beatles. I had to play it when they weren't at home.
My mother bought me Simon and Garfunkel as my first rock album. Of course, I had an older brother who was high school class of 1978. We shared a room and the albums were for both of us. Paul McCartney and Wings was album #2. Then they allowed my brother to join Columbia House and we had 8 tracks galore. The next album that I purchased was Chicago's Greatest Hits. My mom bought me an Osmond Brothers album once and a Carpenters album.

For 45's I had an embarrassing amount of pop hits. I think my brother bought Little Willy and I bought Seasons in the Sun.

Until he got into grunge and became a Pearl Jam fan.

It's a shame his Showtime rock&roll series was such a piece of crap, like most of his more recent films.

Almost Famous and Say Anything are among my all time favorites. Both of them really hit home for me.
