Fleetwood Mac has fired Lindsey Buckingham after a disagreement over the band's upcoming tour, Rolling Stone has confirmed. The band announced Monday that Mike Campbell of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Neil Finn of Crowded House will replace him.

They were thinking about hiring Anthony Kiedis and John Frusciente and calling themselves Chili Mac.

Neil Finn is one of my very favourite artists, hes has written so many brilliant songs with Crowded House

Agree - & Mike Campbell is great too, highly under rated guitarist (ironically so is Buckingham)

I heard the vote to boot him was a landslide.

Some of the big money producers are trying to get a revote. Could just be a one year suspension.

Yeah, I'm kind of excited about seeing what Finn and Campbell do with this. It could be really cool if they let it take on a life of it's on rather than just making them scrub replacements trying to fill in. It could be cool or it could suck. The last version of the band that toured was pretty haggard.

Campbell could stomp a mudhole in some oooold school Fleetwood Mac.

Agree, but most of these type tours are just padding the retirement of the legendary groups. No doubt very high quality replacements just not what I would shell out a great deal for (of course I checked FM off my bucket list a long time ago)

Odds are it will be kinda lame. But they have a history of reinventing themselves successfully in the past, so maybe there's a chance it will rock.

I don't think Buckingham is underrated by his peers. Casual listeners perhaps.

Agree. I often here Buckingham described as underrated and it confuses me. I think its because there are many songs where he is just hitting chords instead of laying down multiple 32nd note shreds. But when Neal Schon says you're good...man, you're good.

Underrated is definitely speaking to the masses.

He's apparently underrated by Fleetwood Mac at this point.

Journey isn't Journey without Steve Perry, Fleetwood Mac isn't Fleetwood Mac without Buckingham. Chicago today is just a tribute/cover band. If you don't have all the original members, you're just not that band.

Agree in principle, but Fleetwood Mac was also Fleetwood Mac well before they had Danny Kirwan, and before and after Bob Welch. They've had a lot of incarnations, with Mick Fleetwood and the McVie's as the only constants.

I think the Fillipino lead singer, Arnel Pineda, for Journey is quite good in the megahits. I prefer the older Journey stuff. I heard Wheel in the Sky this morning. I have not heard the replacement's version of Lights, Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin', or Wheel in the Sky. But Steve Perry today can't pull off Wheel in the Sky. The replacement's version has to be better than Perry's attempt today.

I never liked Journey. But Styx is a vastly better band without the guy that ruined them, Dennis DeYawn. Hated that Roboto crapola. Without him, they actually rock.

The 80s music really kinda sucked.

Old bands should die. Listen to the recordings. There is no value to me in going to see Journey without Perry. Perhaps Rush will tour without Geddy Lee or there will be a Queen tour without Freddy Mercury. I'm an old fart, but we shouldn't cling to what was but is no more.
