He has had it on Galveston Bay, when he had a job in Houston. When he was transferred to Austin, the boat came with him. I've sailed across Galveston Bay with him. Crossing the Houston Ship Channel in a 32-foot sailboat is "exciting."
First you have to go between the correct channel markers, or you'll run aground from the cr@p they pile up on each side when they dredge the channel (which is all the time) then you have to pass between the oil tankers (and cruise ships) that are running in both directions.
The first time we did it I was scared sh*tless. You don't realize just how small you are until you get close to a tanker ship.
