How the hell do you screw this up?
How the hell do you screw this up?
Never said it wasn't a drop in the bucket for them. My question is still unanswered. Anyone in the business knows you test for lead and asbestos in old homes. How the hell could they screw this up and risk bad publicity? I am dumbfounded this happened.BellCountyBear said:
Drop in the bucket for them. Price of doing business.
Actually, testing for asbestos is not required for residential structures. Lead paint testing is required IF you will be disturbing the painted surfaces during the remodel. If they were fined based upon someone at the EPA watching the taped episodes, the fine can only be for failure to test, as there is no way otherwise to determine whether the paint actually contained lead just from seeing it on TV.Conference Saviour said:Never said it wasn't a drop in the bucket for them. I believe this is exactly right.BaylorGuy314 said:
Despite their larger than life profile, Chip and Jo weren't exactly seasoned contractors when they did the show, especially in earlier seasons.
They are great people who have done (and continue to do) great things for Waco and I have a ton of respect for them but it's not as if they were commercial-type professionals. They were very DIY early on and then became more of a GC during the shows years, doing very little to none of the work themselves and just using cheap, local subs for a bunch of the work.
I don't blame them for any of that but it's really not surprising to me that things might have been missed that a more experienced person/company would have done by default. Please understand that's not me attacking them, just pointing out what I believe to be a truth.

In terms of the fines they typically throw at small business, that's peanuts.
Believe me when I say that agency is a scam designed to punish small and middle sized businesses. Hired one of their former employees once, built a response based on their recommendations and still was fined one mil.
The EPA is another political arm of the democrats.
