Avoid the Hampton Inn in Hillsboro. Last week, I found a tick in bed with me and another on a wall...which wasn't the worst thing.

Each room has a coffee pot in the bathroom with the toilet. If you are not familiar with the term 'fecal bloom' it is basically all of the toilet particles that swirl through the air when the toilet is flushed and land on everything within 12 feet...like a coffee pot (or your toothbrush). If you are drinking coffee from that pot, you are basically ingesting all of the fecal blooms from the guests before you. Yes, I am disgusted by this. No, I did not use that coffee pot.

Avoid them all and go with AirBnB.

Interesting response. I am finding far less value in AirBnB pricing compared to say 5 years ago.

Not talking about Waco, specifically

In Waco, anything at Legend Lake is good. Waco Hilton, Holiday Inn in Bellmead...there are lots of good ones in Waco.

There are a bunch of good ones. Especially the newer ones or ones that are kept up well/ good brands. Hilton, hotel indigo, courtyard, holiday inn, etc.

There was an article this week in the tribe about how Waco was top in the state for hotel occupancy. So I'm sure there are lots of reviews on the various travel sites.

Amazing that just a few years ago Waco tore down some warehouses to entice a big hotel to build on the river and no one bit because of low hotel occupancy rates downtown. Now that spot is food truck central in Waco and now also, ironically, Waco leads the state for hotel occupancy. The major hotel conglomerates missed out big time.

Recently there was an article in the trib that said construction on the riverfront development would not begin until 2019. Just seems crazy that it has been in the works for over 5 years when the stadium was being planned and built and now with high tourist attraction it still isn't moving faster.

Driving to the downtown spot is tedius. Two lanes from I35; RR crossing that gets in the way. One way streets running both downtown to Baylor and up/down downtown. Food trucks everywhere between downtown and the river (can be fun if you're in to that kind of thing). TOUGH place to find parking.

Waco is small enough that ANYTHING on I-35 from Belmead (north) to Hewitt south is only 15 minutes away from anything else except when McLane or Ferrell are hosting athletic events.. Parking is still tough if you do that and want to go downtown, but still, the easy in/easy out motels on I-35 are WAY more convenient than having to drive downtown and HOPE for a street spot or a parking garage spot.

I support renewing downtown Waco; but there's only so much to do when ALL of the entertainment is elsewhere on the interstate.

Great city; just laid out on an old time model that didn't account for high volume traffic.
