How long do you want to ignore this user?

Anybody own a Walther handgun? I have a Smith & Wesson M&P .40 cal and an M&P Shield chambered in .40 for my carry weapon. I'm thinking I'd like to sell the full size M&P and go with something different. I've heard great things about Walther handguns. I'm looking at getting a PPQ Q5 Match.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

It would be hard for me to recommend any walther over a Kimber.

Prices are similar, but the kimber just feels so much better in the hand, and has a pull that just seems to be more consistent, to me anyway.

That seems to carry over from the ppq, to the 1911, micro 9, etc.

plus kimber guns look awesome.

Check out the Bravo Company .45.

I shot one of these a few weekends ago. It is just a fabulously crafted weapon. Just amazing.

This is a really nice 1911 and I've checked out their stuff since they support Ben Shapiro, but that is a totally different price range. If and when I finally pick up an AR, I'd like to get one from BCM.

OH yeah, that dude is expensive! But what a honey of a gun!

Agree that their best value is their AR packages. Really nice stuff.

JB preferred the 9mm Berretta.

If I can manage to convince my wife to let me spend the money, the Q5 Match Steel Frame is a beautiful piece of weaponry. It runs about $1,400 compared to the $650 I'm finding the polymer version for.

Carried Glocks, Colts, Kimbers, High Standards, Browning's.

Settled on Wilson Combat Personal Carry in .45. Not a pocket pistol by any means though it fits nicely in my boot and figure eight shoulder holster.

What's "best" is opinion, fit, ability to access/shoot well. I personally like the bigger bores though +P ammo covers a lot of ground in performance, I.e. blowing a big hole in something. Never liked shooting something twice.

Besides the fact that owning a glock as a true carry when having 4 boys under the age of 8 is just irresponsible, no matter how much you try to teach them, Ive always felt that glocks are to heavy/bulky for their size.

I have an M-1911 that was issued to my uncle in WWII. It was a hell of a weapon for the times. It is STILL a hell of a weapon. .

Yes, it is. Don't you wish it could talk? The 1911's can be slicked up to be even better but I wouldn't alter it for the historic value.

I love 1911's but I've always worried they're too complex for me to adequately maintain. Obviously most newer model handguns are like a total of about 6 pieces and easily come apart and go back together for quick cleaning.

You might be pleasantly surprised how few times you have to track down recoil springs that launched across the room narrowly missing your eyes before you have the correct take down procedure figured out....

Seriously, I wouldn't let presumed complexity be an issue. YouTube is your friend. I have a Walther PPKs I love as well as a Smith Bodyguard .380 when there's a need for something pocket sized. Have a couple of others including a Norinco 1911 clone. The Chinese made a surprisingly stout Colt knock-off. Nice platform for mods.

Currently kind of interested in an old-school S&W revolver in 357 or 327 magnum. The newish Sig P365 is really hot right now for carry.

This would mainly be for home defense and range work. I have an M&P Shield for carry.

Get the Walther. I have a PPK/S. The mfg quality is excellent. I think the model you're looking at is a good improvement. My only beef with the PPK/S is the point you make about the 1911, metal parts are sticky at times.

But I like the Walther brand and the PPK/S is a nice gun. I'm sure what you like is a big improvement. FTR, I generally stick to HK and maybe an FN handgun or two.
