Elton John talk on the other thread made me think of Tiny Dance from Almost Famous. How about a thread of music in the movies. Original songs or something integral to the mood and setting of the flick.

I don't have time to look for the video right now but one of the best I can ever remember is "Bad Moon Rising" in American Werewolf in London. Ok maybe it wasn't that hard to find.

I'm too low-tech to find/post CD or album covers.

But back in the day the soundtrack to "Chariots of Fire" (1981) found a niche and has been heard from orchestral versions down to jr high graduation band scores.

Some of you younguns have probably heard it without knowing where/what it's story line was.

Google it; check it out; especially if you like Olympic Track and Field history.

Great tune; kinda hard to dance to though.

It was filmed at the beach at St. Andrews, Scotland parallel to the first fairway of the Old Course where Mary, Queen of Scots teed it up the week after her husband was murdered.

One of the first CDs I purchased in, like, 1988 was Vangelis' "Opera Sauvage".

I think there was a wine commercial that used the track "Hymne" at the time.

As a Clevelander, I'll always be partial to this one from the opening credits of Major League.

Almost Famous: I've Seen All Good People (Yes), Rain Song (Led Zeppelin), America (Simon & Garfunkel)

One of the most musically perfect movies ever made. I'm leaving off a ton of them. I can listen to the soundtrack and visualize the movie in my mind. That's perfection.

Thanks, Stranger,

To a contemporary culture in which most movies are "special effect . . . ed" in digital, we had some pretty fine flicks, music, and actors/actresses filming in real time.

So go ahead and admit it. You walked out of the theater knowing in the last 60 seconds of the flick YOU had been temporarily "stung"!!!!

[that flnger flip of the nose was indeed movie Greatness!]
