Back to Thee's country, just outside of Burnet and Lampasas, for a hunt with my brother and two other Baylor grads (classes of 74 and 76)
Good times.
Here's my full report.

I would have, but it's heck to carry a shotgun and a Zebco 202.

It's all that Walmart carries, and out here (Fort Stockton) it's Walmart or nothing.

No, but my entire family enjoys spring turkey hunting, and we've had some success.

I like it the best of all hunting, because it is "active" meaning you call them up. You don't just sit in a blind and wait for one to come by.

that's the way I feel about wade fishing. For me, it combines the best of hunting and fishing.

Nice game cam shot!!!

Looks like the Hill Country, but it could also be in the North Texas area.

Like I said, spring turkey hunting is the best. You get to actively participate by yelping with a call and waiting on a gobbler to answer, then you call him in.

When they are gobbling, it really gets your heart to pumping.

Actually Pecos, this picture came from my backyard in the pecan bottom in Geronimo, TX.near Seguin. This one has always been one of my favorite turkey pics.

I am not much of a hunter, Sir. All of the turkeys and deer at my place just get shot with a wildlife camera. I am a fisherman. I do have some buddies that love to hunt. I swear those fish in your pictures look like Guadalupe bass. Did not realize they were as far north as Burnet!

The picture of me is a gobbler I took with a bow and arrow. (Recurve bow, BTW)
We cook them and eat them. Mainly the breast meat.

I'm into bird photography and i really have a hankerin' to photograph wild turkey. Haven't been able to find any in Bell County where my uncle says he sees them at his deer feeder once in a while. Maybe I need to learn to call them up.

They only respond to a call during the spring mating season.
In the fall you just have to luck onto them.
