In 1979, the Fabulous Thunderbirds were opening for John Prine at a venue in Houston, Texas, whose name I have forgotten.
It was a round, domed building off of the freeway (NOT the Astrodome) with a round, revolving stage in the center of the building.
I was backstage with the T-Birds, and Stevie was there, with girlfriend Lenny.
We talked about the new ZZ Top album, Deguello, then I watched them do their opening set.
I didn't stay for John Prine's show, because at that time I wasn't a big fan.
Left after the T-Birds, and I kinda regret that now.
My favorite Prine tune is a duet he did with Tom Petty, "Picture Show."
