How about some George Strait this afternoon?

Did George help to preserve country music, or aid its downfall?
He's damned sure not responsible for Florida Georgia Line and the like if that's what you're asking.

I blame 2 things: Garth Brooks, though it pains me, and Rascal Flats.

Those 2 acts opened the door for the filth that ear-****s me when I walk into every Texas-themed restaurant.

Garth had a huge hand in the "party country" movement and Gary LeVox let it be known that you didn't need fiddles, steel guitars or really anything except a drum set and electric guitar to make his high pitched vocals into anything resembling music.

Before Willie's benefits, such a short Farm Aid, there was the Concert for Bangladesh! An all-star lineup! Here is Harrison and Clapton doing George's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"! True greatness!

"Tears in Heaven", for Clapton lovers.
Don't matter who's in Nashville, Bob Wills is still the king.
"Requiem", Faure. Some may need to look this up.
CCR, pick one.

We lucky to have so much great stuff.

I did a research paper in school on Bob Wills. You talk about a showman, and a dude with an ear for talent.

Good stuff. I still remember back in 1974 when this came out and my best friend told me to check out this new artist. He loaned me his copy of Souvenirs and "Part of the Plan" was the first track on the album and the first Dan Fogelberg I ever heard.

Written by Guy Clark, sung by Lyle Lovett. It doesn't get much better.

One of my favorite U2 songs that is hardly ever played live anymore. With The Joshua Tree tour ongoing and the album being played in its entirety on the 30th anniversary, I will get to hear this live again in a week and a half. Talk without speaking and scream without raising your voice!

My first love introduced me to "I Fall to Pieces" and Patsy Cline. Things didn't work out for me and Linda like I dreamed but I have the memories of some great songs!

And I love this slowed-down, kind of jazzy - mellow version .... featuring Merle Haggard and Jamey Johnson---

Yeah man. Holy cow she's amazing. Fell in love with her watching MTV Asia during my time in Saudi. Been a HUGE fan since. Her audition for Miss Saigon is worth the watch.

I think she is 10-11 there

For one of my faves

Not sure if this one's been posted yet but if it has, there's nothing wrong with hearing it again.

I think this is my favorite factoid about A Day in the Life. Pretty funny:

A great tune for anyone who has ever messed up a relationship. Tender song from a rough guy.
