Yes he did.

As a kid with siblings who can sing, I'd have to learn the backup parts. For example, in midnight train to Georgia, I'd go "hoo hoo"

I thought this was about one of those little bity kid groups that used to do halftime entertainment at Baylor basketball games in the late 90s. Then I realized I wasnt on the basketball board.
