We made this little documentary 25 years ago.
June 3, we're hosting a screening at the Hotel Paisano, where it all started.
If you can travel west of the Pecos, come check it out.
All info, with a link to tickets and a trailer, are here:

Kirby, I've already booked a 3 week late July/early August driving trip to the Canadian border and back (free time is both blight and blessing of fulltime retirement).

After reading your book as well as ordering and reading several others you suggested, you're now reeling me in on this one.

MIght just see you in early June. Are the lights visible that time of year?

Lights are visible all of the time, despite what some folks will say.
I've seen them in the rain, on clear nights and cloudy nights.
Yell at me when you head this way.

I will. I'm going to hold you to the several years ago invitation that you would give me personal commentary on how to see the lights.

You got it!

Meanwhile, here's the new trailer for our event in Marfa, June 3.

What a weekend! One of my favorite movies ever.

Absolutely a HUGE WELL DONE! I've always considered "Giant" to be one of the best films of all time. Thanks so much Pecos, for your brilliant work and for keeping the "spirit" of the film alive. Your ability to capture the very essence of the movie and its actors is rare and very greatly appreciated.

If any of you can make the trip down to Marfa on June 3, you won't be disappointed.
I am always able to get a few of the remaining old timers from Marfa to show up and tell a story or two.
There are a handful of them still alive.
They worked as extras on the set, and they all say it was the best time they ever had.

Here is a blogger's interview with me about my film, and here are my dad's home movies on the GIANT set back in 1957 when he took my mom, brother and myself out there.

Again, if you can travel west on June 3, you won't be disappointed.

"Picture Show" by John Prine and Tom Petty.

Two giants of music we've lost.
Great song!!!

Pecos, two weeks out and it looks like I"m not traveling your way for June 3 celebration of "Return". Age brings more constant physical therapies for surgical repairs (orthopedic). And I'm just starting a 6 week course of such. Aging sucks!

I AM hopeful still of traveling to Red River, NM in late July for a bi-annual week spent with 10 Baylor/Chamber families from early-mid 1970s.

Stay tuned. In the meantime I'll be RE-watching everything of yours I can access in digital form. Our 45th celebration/reunion of Class of '74 continues to generate greatest of memories and re-connections. One particularly with a long-ago girlfriend who reminds me of our "best of times and worst of times"(she caught my fancy then stood me up for an Aggie !!!)

Maybe a later summer trip to Marfa on some occasion you will be there might give a few less-crowded moments for a late evening viewing of the lights and an early morning breakfast for you to help me process them.

Thanks for prompting good stuff. Shoot'em up with that silverplate revolver of yours I think I caught in a video. My closet includes a blued long barrel .357 magnum I don't get much opportunity to fire anymore. Maybe I'll be packing WHENever (not IF) you and I can add some volleys to the Marfa lights and breakfast.

Later. ss

Sorry to hear you won't make it, but we will carry on without you.
Yes, bring that .357. I'll pull out my Python and we'll pop a few caps, that is if we can find any ammo for sale. (the right-wing nut jobs are hoarding it in bulk so us casual shooters can't find any.)
I'll PM you the Vimeo links to BORDER BANDITS and WHEN DALLAS ROCKED.

Should have my Vaughan Brothers doc to the distributor next week, so look for its release in a few weeks/months, whatever they decided to do.

Will look for you whenever you cross Rio Pecos.

I understand about surgery. I just had a hip replacement done and I'm a damned invalid my own self for a few more weeks. Thank goodness I have a blue-eyed bride who can still drive me around.
