Here's a nice article the Big Bend Sentinel ran about our little soiree.
Enjoy!

Just the kind of entertainment I like of an evening. Too bad I'm not in the area tonight,

Went just fabulous!
Standing-room-only crowd.
Oversold it.
Only had 80 seats in the Hotel Paisano ballroom, but they had to bring in more to accommodate 116 people.
Everyone loved it, and the Hotel was so pleased that they want to do it again.
Had a few folks who were out on the GIANT set in 1955 there, as well as some of the biggest ranchers in the area. A great crowd, all the way around.
We shall return!
Stay tuned for details.

Glad it was such a success, KW. You deserve all the feel-good about preserving history and heritage of trans-Pecos, and more.

Pecos, this fireworks display is planned to be right in your backyard (Van Horn)

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos announces he will fly into space next month (msn.com)

Has Bezos gotten clearance from you and other locals out there?

Keep us posted.

Bezos has a big presence in Van Horn. Has donated to the school there and more.
But I don't think I'll drive in for that.
Last time I was in Van Horn was for the area track meet. One of our "neighbors" had a grandson running in it, so we drove over and took it in.
That was in April, and I haven't been back, but maybe someday soon.
Another BU alumni, Nuny Morriss, is from Van Horn. He was a KOT when we were at Baylor.

Congratulations on the successful showing last week. Since you mentioned that some of the people who were on the set showed up, I thought I would see who else on the cast is still living:

Carroll Baker - OMG just turned 90

Earl Holliman - 92

Jane WIthers - 95

Elsa Cardenas - 88

There are several other supporting cast members who are still living. Has there ever been a reunion where some of the bigger names in the cast came back to Marfa?

We (myself and the Marfa Chamber of Commerce) tried to host a "reunion" in 1995. Got Fran Bennett and Bob Hinkle to show up.
We held a 50th anniversary screening of GIANT in downtown Marfa in 2007 and had Earl Holliman and Jane Withers there.
Here's a YouTube report of it:

FYI: that 1995 reunion attempt was what got me to produce RETURN TO GIANT. Several Marfa locals and extras were on hand, so we filmed their stories. I thought it would make a good doc, so I contacted Warner Bros. and here we are.
