Not sure what qualifies as "old", but for sheer drama and succinctness (if you can catch it in your first viewing, Sargeant Miller to Private Ryan in Miller's last statement,

Perhaps THE finest made for television movie of all time. Great novel; great script for movie, great closing scene.

If it had been "made for TV", wouldn't it have been nominated for Emmys instead of Academy Awards?

My bad. I've only seen it on TV (poor wording since when it came out movies on TV were not even existent).

I defer to your qualification and raise my praise to "one of the best movies of all time."

LIttle Big Man. The aged Chief/warrior (I can't call his screen name), "My Heart swoops like a dove."

JAWS: "We're gonna need a bigger boat!"

Jack Nicholson: Bucket LIst (this one is a bit indelicate for a paid board so I'll just prompt it and those of you who remember might smile, "When you get old, there's THREE things you must never do. Never pass up a bathroom, never waste ___ ___________ , and never trust a fart."

Cool Hand Luke: Captain to Luke and the bystanders; "What we have here, is failure to communicate."

From Little Big Man: The only trouble with snake women is they copulate with horses, which makes them strange to me. She say's she doesn't. That's why I call her "Doesn't Like Horses". But, of course, she's lying.

Again, I'm not sure what qualifies for 'old' but here's another that I enjoyed using for years in Intro classes:

From "Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?": at the river baptismal scene (with Allison Kraus vocal in the background): the shorter "Delmar" runs in to the river spontaneiously, cuts in line and is baptized. The taller "Pete" comments, "Well I'll be a sonofab*tch, Delmar done got saved!"

The intersection of religion and common culture is priceless.

"Suppose we had no police force, good or bad. Suppose we had just silence, nobody to listen, nobody to answer. The battle's finished. The jungle wins. The predatory beasts take over."

"Are you going to stay for breakfast, or do you already know how to eat?"

Paul Newman - The Sting

"Well, it got so that every piss-ant prairie punk who thought he could shoot a gun would ride into town to try out the Waco Kid. I must have killed more men than Cecil B. DeMille. It got pretty gritty. I started to hear the word "draw" in my sleep. Then one day I was just walking down the street, when I heard a voice behind me say, "Reach for it, mister!" I spun around, and there I was face-to-face with a six-year-old kid. Well, I just threw my guns down and walked away. Little ******* shot me in the ass! So I limped to the nearest saloon, crawled inside a whiskey bottle, and I've been there ever since."
