All the rage in Frisco.

I haven't been up to DFW to try them yet.

Overrated? Worth the wait? What's the word?

I haven't been, but from my experience, there is kind of a limit to how good a donut can be. I like donuts, but I honestly can't ever recall having one that was a total game changer for me.

Crazy good. The one I liked most is the choc cake donut, with choc icing, the german choc icing in the middle. All the ones I tried are extremely good. Weird combos, like choc cake w/ white glazing, with Captain Crunch cereal on it.

That german choc donut may be the best donut I have ever eaten.

People must require more out of a donut than I do... Give me standard glazed/chocolate or a cinnamon glazed twist and I'm set.

Ha, I'm right there with you. Chocolate iced with Bavarian filling from Shipley's does the trick.

Well said. If a donut gets you all fired up you are either a teenager or fat

Man, the critics on here must only drink your Folgers coffee black, your Jack Daniels whiskey straight, and have your Blue Bell ice cream only in homemade vanilla. Do you all drive white Ford F-150s and wear black pants and white shirts to the office as well?

I kid, I kid.

Seriously, I don't eat donuts a lot. I do eat them more now since I have kiddos but a basic glazed donut is fantastic to me. That said, I enjoy a little change now and again to shake up routine so a crazy, overpriced donut can be a fun change.

Just curious about the quality. I'm reaching out to the owners to see if one could be opened in Waco. Not crazy about franchising a donut shop (talk about having no barriers to entry) but this seems like a no-brainer fit.

Ha, I didn't mean to come off as that lame. I guess to me, donuts are just not the type of food I would ever wait in a long line for. There are plenty of other types of food that I would wait for, but I've never had a donut that was worth waiting more than 5 or so minutes. Maybe if I tried Hurts I would change my mind.

And for the record, my favorite flavor of Blue Bell is no Blue Bell...no aggy ice cream for me.

I had no idea I needed this in my life until I had one. Heard about it, but I don't drive out of my way for donuts. My daughter brought me a box, and I am now officially a fan.

The German chocolate cake donut is a top 10 desert I've ever had.

And yes. I'm fat.

I go to District Donuts every time I'm in N.O. Donuts are awesome, I understand the appeal. but as a food item, there are 100's of things I value more. even a great donut is just a donut. or a fried piece of cake, if that is your thing.

I have never been there. My kids have brought them to me twice. But now I will be googeling to find where they are at. Going to stop by there maybe tomorrow.

We live a couple of miles away and they crowds have been crazy. I haven't tried it yet, but some of our friends have and said the donuts are great. Their schtick is being open 24 hours, so I guess that's part of the hype behind it.

Stopped by there today at lunch. Had to wait about 10 minutes. Bought a dozen, including the German Choc cake donuts. Exercised some measure of discipline and omitted the bacon maple glazed. Had it before, and it was.... amazing is the only word I have. I almost would not eat it, and my daughter said that donut was born for me to eat it. She was right. Never had anything quite like it.

My selection for today:
red velvet with white icing
choc w white icing and Reeses Pieces.
Choc w choc icing and oatmeal stuck to it
Choc w choc icing and peanuts stuck to it.
Choc w white icing and crushed Butterfinger stuck to it
"Moose Munch" choc with choc icing and chunks of Oreo cookie, coconut and pieces of pretzel

My staff went bonkers for them.

A donut thread without a mention of Round Rock donuts should be a crime.

You won't be disappointed. Best donuts ive ever had.

They also have great kolaches (get the jalapeno and cheese ones) and the Texas cinnamon roll is killer.

I always try to get the giant donut when I am passing through there. I was thinking it wouldn't be as good as a regular, but I was wrong.

The guy that owns Hypnotic grew up on the same street as my wife. He started selling them on Facebook by telling people that he would be at a certain intersection in town until he sold them all. He eventually parlayed that into opening up a shop.

That's cool. He and I have sponsored some cycling events together. Seems like a cool dude in my interactions with him.

Offended. I am neither a teenager nor fat. I love me a donut, though.

If you're ever in Portland, OR, find Blue Star. The rage up there is Voodoo, but give me Blue Star all day.

I'm curious as to where the location will be in Waco.

There are only 4. 1/2 months left of 2017--if it is really opening in 2017.
