Yeah, he obviously missed that. "You guys" and all. I was laughing at the reactions before I even finished typing the original post. Sorry for any resulting high spikes in blood pressure.

It's not just him. There have been multiple threads and numerous posts in unrelated threads on the topic. It's exhausting.
Exhausting? Probably time to stop reading fan boards.

Just read Derek Mason took a significant pay cut ($1.6 mil to 1.1 million) to go from Auburn DC to Oklahoma St DC. Yikes..

In case you haven't been following what's been going on on the Plains, allow me to bring you up to speed, per my friend who is very tied in there:

"Auburn is probably going to fire its head football coach this week with cause.

What cause?

Well...Basically when all of the coaches and players transferred or left the program, they've all given him negative reviews. And Derek Mason left the program and said something to HR that caused an internal HR investigation into Bryan Harsin. This investigation ended up interviewing over 115 people in the athletic department, and no one knows what it found, but several meetings took place with the players to go through allegations of racism and verbal abuse and other things.

He's on vacation in Mexico. The University decided yesterday to pass a new policy called the employee compliance policy that basically means all employees have to comply with university investigations, then told him he had to come back to be interviewed for this investigation. He didn't come back today and so they're going to fire him with cause because he didn't comply with a policy. There's a clause in his contract saying he has to comply with all university policies, so they pass a new policy on Tuesday, he doesn't comply, this he will be fired."

So basically he's getting fired over a bad Yelp review.

This all seems above board. Nothing to see here.

They pass this policy yesterday while he is on vacation and then say you need to comply with the policy and come back from Mexico today to give an inteview. He doesn't so they think they can fire for cause now? I think Harsin will have a good lawsuit if they fire him and refuse to buy him out now over non compliance with this new policy.

yep, one day to return, and presumably the University granted Vacation, so they're going to have a hard time getting that past a reasonableness test in court ... unless the Judge is an Auburn booster.

I think the hope is that he does challenge it in court and they can publicly air the results of the "investigation" they just hastily performed. And the threat of that leads to a reduced buyout. Otherwise they're on the hook for $18.3mm.

He basically tried to placate the Auburn alums by hiring "SEC Experienced" coaches when he arrived.

Huge mistake. The people he hired were duds. When that relationship went south, they both apparently turned on him. If he gets the axe, it will be for the precise reason that he simply didn't manage assistants well.

And yeah, some hot chick too.

In a way too bad for him. At this point he would probably prefer to take their money and not have to work there for them.

Yeah, I'm not jumping to any conclusions, but it tells you that the SEC is very much not open to outsiders coming in with different ideas.

So, like old times.

Word from Alabama friend is the girl rumor was started by influential boosters who wanted him fired. University investigated and determined that was totally false. And of course significant damage to a falsely accused Coach and more importantly an innocent assistant.
