First Allen....and then McKinney...Frisco has The Star for their high school games.

The stadium arms race keeps on trucking.

Duke Sparks is spearheading the Melissa Athletics facilities build. He is putting together a top quality complex - the stadium is just the latest piece.

Good to know what the taxes/bond payments are going for.....I"m sure when I buy a home the first thing I ask about is the HS football stadium....

Serious growth.

Yep. Me too. Places with $35million stadiums have higher taxes and should be avoided.

These are incredible fast growing cities with a lot of money. Don't let town sizes fool you as developers are buying huge blocks on land in the ETJ and surrounding area where land might be cheaper. Towns are growing rapidly but there is a lot of development outside these small, wealthy towns as well.

My dad (Baylor football letterman late 60s) was a superintendent of schools and he was heavily involved in school finance. He said the best position to be in was neither rich nor poor, but fast growing. He said the way the system works is that if you are fast growing the state throws buckets of money at you. That was 20+ years ago and I dont know if it still works that way - but it does seem to be the case.

I have always wondered how demographics in 30 years will effect these North DFW High Schools.

Will tax payers still want to fund these stadiums and football programs after the DFW metro area goes through the same demographic transition that the LA metro area went through already?

Going from majority White (70-80%) and Black (7-11%) areas of mostly native born to majority East Asian, South Asian, and Hispanic and who are heavily 1st to 2nd generation immigrant.

Or will it not matter?

California high school football for instance is in free fall.

For comparison sake..Ferrell Center was built for 12.5 million
.. which would be 28.6 million now.

Listened to the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) testifying before Congress.

It was mostly Jan. 6th stuff...but one interesting thing he said was that they have just spent $283 million on windows and doors for the Capitol Complex.

I went back and looked up how much it cost to build the Capitol back in the 1800s (3 stages)...with inflation it comes out to around $200 million.

We are literally spending more on some windows and doors than it took to build the whole dang thing.

"That portion includes some $283 million to upgrade windows and doors"

If you value this and think it's essential for your child's education...well, God help you.

But on the flip side, there is often more money in academic scholarships than athletic, so go someplace that values math and science, pay for every tutor you can afford and you'll be surprised at the college scholarships available to qualified GPA/Standardized Test students.

Never heard of Collin County much less Melissa. Is this the Grapeine area?

Like someone said above I wonder how long this lasts. In Houston you will be lucky to see 700 at a HS game. Probably the same for Dallas except maybe Highland Park.

North of Dallas.

The crowds are all pretty decent sized. We have 1000s at each Trinity game if the weather isnt abusive.

I think it will 100% impact, but probably not as drastically as in Cali
