The Chicago Bears selected Trestan Ebner with the 203rd-overall pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound multi-purpose threat ended his super-senior season with 799 rushing yards and two touchdowns, 284 yards receiving with two scores, 511 kick return yards with one touchdown, and 154 yards on punt returns.

An All-Big 12 1st team kick and punt returner, Ebner was also named the league’s Special Teams Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Scott Sewell-USA TODAY Sports

Ebner played in a school-record 61 games for his career with 1,690 rushing yards and 9 TD; 1,515 yards receiving with 11 touchdowns; 1,187 yards and 4 TD on kick returns, and 190 yards and one touchdown on punt returns. And he’s just the seventh player in program history to record 4,000-plus career all-purpose yards (4,582). The second Baylor player to record 1,000+ career rushing and receiving yards.

After the Sugar Bowl victory, Ebner participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl in Orlando, Florida. Despite a relatively quiet all-star week, he was one of several Bears to earn an NFL Combine invite. Ebner posted a solid 4.43 40-yard dash and 30.00” vertical jump in Indy. Back in Waco, Ebner posted a strong 115” broad jump and 7.16-second 3-cone drill, having saved other drills for Pro Day.

The East Texas star is the second Baylor offensive player selected in this year’s draft joining Tyquan Thornton, the 50th-overall pick in the second round. He’s also the fifth Baylor player picked overall in Las Vegas.

Lance Zierlein, a draft analyst for NFL.com, said this about Ebner: “Swiss Army Knife with size, speed and versatility to potentially help in three different phases for a team. Ebner is a former all-state prep receiver whose mismatch potential out of the backfield should rank as his most endearing play trait. He's been a productive kick returner with open-field vision and build-up speed to hit big plays. Despite his size, he's underwhelming as a runner and struggles to play with consistent decisiveness and aggression in that role. He fits as a future third-down back who can run an expanded route tree and attack vertically when the mismatch aligns for him.”
