Just being mentioned as +500 to get into the SEC makes me happy. If that somehow happened I would cry tears of joy.

Odds on accepting are far different from odds of getting an invite.

Yeah because we're going to turn down an invite to the SEC….

From the SEC's perspective, for myriad reasons I would think OSU would be more attractive to the SEC than either us or Louisville and probably even Miami. Better TV numbers, baked in Bedlam, larger alumni base etc.

Lol our odds are better at getting into the SEC than UW's for the BiG and about equal to Oregon going to the BiG?

It means nothing really but it is nice to see from a reputational stand point

Edit : Apologies to Oregon I didn't remember exactly while I was commenting. I stand by everything else. .

We may have some morons on our BOR but i doubt anyone at Baylor is dumb enough to turn down the $100mill/year to be in the best conference in the land.

I would actually prefer not to but I would still say we go only because of the $$$.

I'm curious about the context are these the odds if the Big 2 go to 18, 20 or what?

well, on this list, Baylor is 21st. Baylor has 0 hope if the SEC only goes to 20. I do think we have a chance if they expand to 24.

Would be great to no longer be worried about the implosion, but man that's a terrifying arms race to enter

I'm actually curious why the Big 10 doesn't try to move south to get more options. They've already gone to the west coast, so clearly they've given up on geography being important. Everyone talks about FSU / Clemson / Miami being shoe ins for the SEC, but SEC has Florida and Big10 could make some noise getting some strong schools in the southern part of the country.

If they try to take on the SEC directly by going into their territory, I wonder if Baylor would ever be considered. They aren't AAU, but Baylor is R1 now.

We have been outspent and outmanned by Texas, aggy and OU our whole lives so it's not very terrifying imo. Nothing terrifying about playing Mizz, MIss St, Vandy, Ole Miss, UK, UTvols, UThorns, sooners & ags. Also, once Saban retires the deck may reshuffle a bit.

they would never consider baylor for a couple reasons. one, like you mentioned, isnt AAU. But also, all big 10 schools (sans Northwestern) are all 40,000+). the BIG values big brands in big markets (sans the founding members of the BIG). They will not covet the Waco market and if they turned down Oregon and Washington because they didnt bring enough money to the table- Baylor certainly wouldnt. It's about eyeballs and while baylors product is good, we dont have the wal-mart warriors SEC and BIG have. those that support Baylor are tied to it in some way (parents went, kids went, etc) and we have a smaller student population than theyd like.

Would it be nice, sure! Especially since im in southern california- i'd love to drive to LA to watch Baylor play ucla/usc. but our only chance, and its a sliver of one at best, is the sec. Our culture fits into the SEC

I usually go up to Columbia when aggy comes to town. Poor cocks have never beaten the ags yet and their fans who arent completely hammered have battered wife syndrome.

(I say this in jest.).......where is TT and TCU who believe that we shouldn't even be in the Big XII (which is rich coming from TT)? Tech thinks they are at the top of the list to be plucked every time realignment comes up.....still waiting for that B1G invite (perhaps they are funning out of pizzas up there). There are a few sane people there that see reality, but those are few and far between.

Tech thought they were a lock for the Pac12 the last time realignment happened. And now many of them think the SEC really needs another Texas school. I live in Lubbock, and listen almost daily to my friends tell me how they are (just about to be) the big dog in the conference.

Isn't it true that Tech has only 1 SWC title and no Big 12 titles in football? And the one title was actually a 5 way tie for second with a&m ineligible. With that 40+ year history, how could they possibly think that they are going to lead the Big 12?

I think both Tech and OSU would come out ahead of us if a battle for slots in another conference needed to be decided. I'm think OU is working to get OSU in SEC.

Tech aheadof BU ? Not in my opinion. BU 3 titles in 9 years and pull good TV numbers. Academics better. Don't see it.

Dang. I'm not talking about turning it down. Maybe this will help: the odds of us accepting are greater than the odds of getting an invite, as thing appear at this point in time.

One thing that helps Baylor is the SEC more than likely won't get anybody from the ACC because of the GOR. I think a team would have to pay 120 million to get out of the ACC. That leaves Notre Dame, Pac 10 and Big 12.

Can't imagine UT or TAMU letting BU join the SEC ... of course, based on their "strong" stand against UT, lol, TAMU apparently do what the other schools tell them to do.

All these numbers indicate is how much guesswork is involved in a realignment talk.
