48 Days Till Kickoff: Baylor has played 48 games at McLane Stadium
As always, keep track of both the stats and roster countdowns in the Offseason Hub!
Since opening prior to the 2014 season, McLane Stadium has hosted 48 home Baylor football games. In those 48 games, the Bears have gone 33-15.
- 2014: 6-0
- 2015: 4-2
- 2016: 4-2
- 2017: 0-6
- 2018: 4-2
- 2019: 6-1
- 2020: 2-2
- 2021: 7-0
Baylor went undefeated at McLane in both the 2014 and 2021 seasons. Those years featured some of the biggest wins in program history, including the 61-58 thrilling come-from-behind victory over No. 9 TCU in 2014.
In 2021, Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff visited Waco for the matchup between the No. 13 Bears and the No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners. Dave Aranda’s defense put on a masterclass and shut down Lincoln Reiley’s high-powered offense, holding them to just 260 total yards. The Green and Gold walked away with a 27-14 upset victory over the No. 8 Sooners, and the fans stormed the field in excitement. Baylor and OU games always seem to be memorable, and the 2021 victory was somewhat of revenge for the heartbreaking loss suffered in 2019.
The game against Oklahoma was Matt Rhule’s only loss in McLane in 2019, and the regular season for that matter. Aside from the OU game, Baylor had thrilling victories against Iowa State, Texas Tech, and West Virginia that all went down to the wire. And who could forget the 24-10 victory over Texas where Denzel Mims put up a touchdown and 125 yards on the Longhorns?
Despite the struggles in 2017 and 2020, McLane Stadium has brought many great memories to Baylor fans far and alike in its eight years of existence, and I fully expect there to be many more in the coming years.
