Quote:

While it remains to be seen just exactly how large the Big 12 pie could grow during its next media rights negotiations in 2024, there is reason to believe the number could be significant enough to support a 16-team conference while still paying out upwards of $60-$70 million to each member on an annual basis.

If the new commish can negotiate a deal like that the conference will be in pretty good hands.

Keep in mind that all these things are super confidential secrets right now. Verified information like that would allow another conference or team to counter-punch. No team, conference, or media partner is going to publish or release any concrete statements until all the ink is dry on every single contract.

The Twitter-verse is gonna keep chucking out numbers and plans. They're all garbage.

These things have multiple twists and turns and have for the last decade so its almost impossible to predict.

But logically speaking, ignoring misplaced West Coast narcissism, we have a stronger position than the remaining Pac 12 teams financially and with on field success. Once the dust settles it will be impossible for the remaining Pac 12 schools to ignore this. Its probable that the Big 12 will have a good opportunity to add the right schools only.

The irony is the schools that didn't want Baylor due to our Christian mission in prior years are now the least desirable from both a financial, competitiveness and cultural perspective. Who knows what will happen but it seems likely those schools are in a pickle.

This.

They can propose estimates all day. But they are still estimates and deal value will depend on actual returns.
