I think I've read that same article (or some variation of it) every year for the last 119 years, give or take. "Baylor doesn't recruit well enough to compete against the UT's of the world", ad nauseam.

Historically speaking, hasn't that been an accurate assessment over the years?

Death Penalty? Whoever the ghey boy in bondage was that wrote that needs to be reminded that no one gets the death penalty. And if anyone deserved to get it more over the past 40 years, it'd be UT and OU.
The author might want to learn that Title IX is not an NCAA rule. If he can't even understand that, there is hardly any point in taking anything he writes seriously.

Well, we'll just see how it pans out on the field. Surprisingly, Mr Smith fails to point out that Rhule, with a bunch of 2 stars and 3 stars with crappy facilities, won his conference and beat Herman which boasted new facilities and 3 star and 4 star players.

I thought Herman beat CMR's team in their only head to head matchup? Doesn't matter, CMR is a wayyy better coach than tequila tom. And I know the media wants to spin Herman's wins against some of the best coaches in Stoops, Petrino, and fisher as him being the greatest coach ever, but the fact of the matter is Houston should have lost those games.

And one of those was overturned.

That's been the big problem with the fake "scandal" from the beginning: lack of evidence.

I guess the fascist media cannot be bothered with little things like facts & proof.

And we have yet to see more than 2 convictions in criminal court.
One.

One conviction at this point.

Sam U was appealed and overturned and I have not heard if he will actually be tried again.

Oakman is awaiting trial.

All of the other 17 or 52 or whatever number the media is going with these days, have not even been charged.

I believe Chatman and Armstead were charged/indicted as well about the same time Ukwuachu's conviction was overturned on appeal.

Yes over turned and remanded back to the trial court to be tried again, if the DA's office wants to. It could turn out worse or better for Sam U if it is tried again. However that has been a while and I dont know what the DA is doing with it. It could be they have quietly decided to let it go and hope the media isn't paying attention and never asks them about it again.

The DA (Reyna) is appealing the 10th Court's decision to the Texas Supreme Court. It's difficult to believe the Supreme Court will overturn the 10th Court so Reyna must feel that a 2nd trial wouldn't go so well...IMO.

Oddly enough, the 10th Court only ruled on the first of SU's five points of appeal IIRC. Does this mean that Sam still has four aces in the hole? Yogi? X? Bueller? Bueller???

On another exercise that I think parallels to OP topic/internet "news" article.

I am a Missouri native and have driven home to Mizzou fans since they left the Big12, that their football was doomed. Brian has agreed with this prediction for years. On 247 most understandably wanted to focus on Baylor and Briles, but cutting themselves off from playing games in Texas killed Mizzou recruiting of Texas highschoolers. I think the Mizzou success in the Big 12 and their first two seasons in the SEC wasn't due to MU grabbing 4 and 5 star Texans. But they developed quality three deep at most positions with a volume of 3 star Texans and a handful of 4 star Missouri kids.

BTW, Tiger fans that I know are still in denial on leaving the Big 12 killing their program. It is all about Pinkel retiring. They still feel he would have developed recruits out of SEC country. I think Rhule has recruited Florida better than Mizzou has over the same timeframe.

We all know the OP article is crap. I think Mizzou ' s descent from relevance proves that a deep roster of developing middle-rated Texans mixed with a few 4-5 star players will produce a ranked team. I think Rhule will do better than Pinkel's recruiting star ranking mix.

I forgot about those two because by the time they were charged they were not with the team any more.

Still that is 5 that have been charged. One overturned, one convicted and 3 awaiting trial. For there being 52 or whatever number they are going with that is a low percentage of arrests for such a high claim.

The Court of Appeals only ruled on 2 of six issues submitted on appeal. They denied one and sustained the other. The McLennan County DA appealed the reversal of his conviction to the Court of Criminal Appeals. We are waiting to see if the CCA will review the case. If the CCA reviews the case and overturns the Court of Appeals decision, the case will go back to the Court of Appeals to rule on the other issues it did not decide. From the tone and tenor of the oral argument in the Court of Appeals, there is a good chance the Court of Appeals would decide at least one of those issues in Sam's favor. If so, the case would likely go back to the CCA a second time. So we are a long way from a retrial, if there is one.

Just to clarify. Sam U's case is being appealed to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals -- a 9 Judge court of last resort in Texas for appealing a ruling in criminal cases.

The Texas Supreme Court does not have jurisdiction over criminal cases.

Both are discretionary review courts -- meaning they do not have to rule on every case, but rather, can choose which cases warrant review. If they deny review, the decision of the lower appellate court stands. If they accept review, they hear arguments and write an opinion deciding the case.

I should have been a journalist, where you can publish anything you pull out of your ass. It must be a great profession.

Pay no attention to this article. Nobody else is. Not only is it blatantly false, but Matt Rhule did pretty well with his "Temple quality" recruits. I mean, they did win the American two years in a row over a guy named "Tom Herman."
