Ten Things That Stood Out Against Oklahoma State

October 1, 2022

Baylor and Oklahoma State squared off Saturday for the third time in a year. This time Oklahoma State exacted revenge from the the Big 12 Championship game in 2021.

  1. Baylor comes out strong early and has a drop stop the drive and it ends with a field goal. Oklahoma State also comes out and gets a touchdown. Each is able to move the ball, but Baylor will need to finish with touchdowns.
  2. Baylor mssing blocking assignments on a toss sweep in the end zone...
  3. Dillon Doyle has come to play today.
  4. This has settled into a slugfest between two coaches and teams just throwing haymakers.
  5. What a way to come out at half by Oklahoma State as they throw a dagger on a kickoff return for a TD
  6. Baylor looks to have made an adjustments and Monaray Baldwin‍ takes the top of the defense and gives Baylor life.
  7. Christian Morgan‍ with a huge interception and Baylor converts another TD to get the game back within reach.
  8. Baylor’s secondary releases another wide receiver for an opposing team and gets burned. The CB play is eerily familiar to BYU, Albany, and ISU and must be corrected.
  9. I have no idea what a catch is any longer between Seth Jones and Bryson Green.
  10. Monaray Baldwin‍ is explosive and this offense missed him.
  11. Every single person in the stadium is holding their breath for what is likely a cramp with Siaki Ika‍ being attended to. One player Baylor cannot lose.
  12. And Baylor falls to 1-1 in conference.
  13. Hats off to Oklahoma State for a great game plan and for landing the final punch.

As a fan, it was very frustrating to watch.
Every time it looked like our Bears were about to get back into the game, there was the timely turnover or kickoff return for a TD.
Lots of missed opportunities, and some head-scratching play calls.
But now it's time to take the rest of the Big 12 seriously.
Texas and OU no longer scare anyone.

3b. Dillon Doyle had 22 members of his family in house. I met some of them pregame.

I'm not suggesting that's the only reason he played as he did, only that he had some extra motivation. He has the single digit for a reason.

The traitors aren't scary but Kansas, K State & TCU maybe are.

All the teams are scary at this point from what I have seen from this 2022 Baylor team. I'm sure we are going to win a few and lose a few, but none of the matchups scream wins. If we had WV at home maybe.

I still think this year May be our best opportunity to date to get a win in Morgantown.

There isn't a game left that would be a total shock to lose ... or to win.

The Big 12 has good teams 1-9 (excluding WVa, sucks to play them in a night time game in Morgantown).

There will likely be a 3 loss team in Arlington. It will be an enjoyable 2 months.
