I'll be making the drive in from the ranch (near Fort Stockton) for this Saturday's K-State game.
Brian graciously has allowed me to set up at one of the tables at the SicEm365 Tailgate to get any Baylor graduates to sign my nomination form to get me on the ballot for the Alumni-elected regent on the BOR.
The qualifications and processes are listed here. https://alumniregents.web.baylor.edu/schedule-and-process/nominations
I am almost there, having received more than 35 signatures and a letter from my pastor.
If some of you can drop by and sign the form, I will be most appreciative.
Your signature will only get me ON THE BALLOT. I still must win an election of Baylor alumns.
I am running for this spot because I believe the BOR needs more "regular people" on it. Right now it is pretty top heavy with mega donors and preachers. Nothing wrong with that. However, there are thousands of Baylor alumni like myself who graduated BU, but didn't enter into a high-paying profession so our donations are limited. However, we love Baylor, and would like to contribute in some way.
I'm inspired to do this by my late brother, a 1976 grad who became a teacher in the DISD for more than 30 years, and was named Teacher of the Year. He didn't make bank, but he positively influenced a ton of kids, and represented Baylor in a proud manner. I know that there are many more like him who make a difference, but can't write a large check to their alma mater.
So, if you want to help, drop by the SicEm365 Tailgate this Saturday, and look for the guy in the cowboy hat (silver belly).
See you there, and Sic 'em!!!
(Thanks, Brian)
